Happy 4th of July!
Grateful to those who against great odds sacrificed much so that we can live and enjoy the freedoms we have today

@immatthewj -- No, Matthew.  Just another member tired of every post turning into a childish political bashing sideshow and feeling sorry for what admin.  has to put up with just about every day.  Enjoy the 4th with a 5th.

@gano

Everything you wrote about the fires and reservoirs is absolutely factual. There was a massive campaign of political lies surrounding the fires. I paid close attention because I worked with several National Parks in California, for 14 years, including Sequoia, where Lake Kaweah is. That reservoir was opened (by trump’s orders) to supply water to Los Angeles, but that reservoir only supplies water to the San Fernando Valley for agriculture. So, that was a waste of billions of gallons of water, and an extraordinarily ignorant mistake!!!!

As part of my work with the National Park Service, I was volunteer fire fighter, so I know a lot about wild-land fires. I also married a fire captain with California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection. So you can trust that I know about wild-land fire fighting.

That being said, there are two things that must be understood about those fires: Santa Anna winds and water supply.

Water Supply: When every fire hydrant is open, pressure and volume is significantly reduced! All reservoirs connected to L.A. hydrants were full. But when every hydrant is open pressure and volume is reduced. This is simple to understand.

Santa Anna winds: Heat from the deserts in the Great Basin (Nevada Utah, Arizona), can cause extremely high winds, ie 80 mph!

So, put aside the propaganda! These facts aren’t difficult to understand. Use common sense!
