Amplifier input voltage range

I have a non-audio need to amplify a signal, but it seemed to me that an audio amp would do the trick. The output voltage of my device can vary in output from a low range of 10 to 15 vac and an upper range of 28 to 48 vac. Is this voltage within the range that an audio amp can take as an input? I'm thinking of using either a car amplifier or a home unit like my Marantz to boost the signal.
