Amazon mp3 quality?

Hello all,
I've tried to get my hands on Jonathan Edwards' "Rocking Chair" album on cd, but the only ones available are used for about $40.  Amazon sells the mp3 for $8.99, but I don't know about the compression rate and the sound quality. What's been your experience? Ideally I'd like to transfer to a cd. Thanks in advance for any help.
