Am i sitting too close to the Center Channel? (around 3 feet)

Just bought the Denon X1800H to hook a center speaker and 2 rear speakers. I sit only 5 feet from the TV as shown in the pictures. I used Audessy to set it up. Sound comes out of the rear speakers well enough.

The voices coming out of the Mirage MC-2 are too...boxed in. Its true im sitting so close to it (3 feet) but i cant change the dimension of the room. Doesn't feel like a "surround effect" where sound moves across the left- right or front back. Maybe im expecting too much.

Looking for suggestions to improve the sound experience. Space is so tight, i dont even know where id put a subwoofer if i bought one.

Center’s placed too low. Center should be identical to fronts.

Disable center channel and just use the 2 Fronts and Surrounds. The phantom center provided by the fronts should be fine for a single listening position such as yours.

Thank you for these suggestions. Especially trying the manual setup. I just assumed i could never do better than professional software. Worth a try..
