Washburn is a worthwhile artist. I have two of her recordings. I've noticed a spot or two on City of Refuge where her vocal suddenly gets weird and muffled, then clears up.
Abigail Washburn Song of the Traveling Daughter
Off the beaten track as expected, even a bit avant-garde, yet well performed with interesting content. The overall recording is dynamic enough with accommodating soundstage. Great acoustical rendition.
Only real criticism is the vocal miking. At times it seems distant and buried in the background, almost muffled, as if she is placed 20 feet behind the band. Other selections are vocally spot on. Bela produced this and at times his artistic stamp is clearly heard. Quite different and at times a showoff disc content-wise.
