A question about power supplies

I just realized that I have a BK Precision 1621 regulated bench power supply. It's just a left over from when I liked to tinker with electronics.

I was wondering if anyone knows whether this power supply is of sufficient quality to use as an "upgrade" to the power supplies provided with some audio gear, like the Squeezebox Touch or anything else that comes with a wall wart.

I'd appreciate any info.

I haven't gotten around to trying it out yet. It really hasn't been a high priority on my list of things to do, because several sources have said that upgrading the power supply on a Touch makes no difference.

Still, I'm going to try it the next time I have some time free from the wife and kids.
I replace my dacmagic wal-wart power supply with a quality DIY unit and the deference was pretty amazing.

This is definitely the little DAC that can when allowed to by the power supply

Just make sure it has enough current capacity

I went a little over the top by using a 60watt toroid - but it sounds so sweet
Thanks for the reply, and yeah...I figured that since I had it, I may as well play around with it. It's capable of up to 18v and up to 5A. I believe that is touch is 5v at 3A.

I was wondering if it would make a difference. Now I'll see.
The BK Precision 1621 is definitely better than a wall wart but will it make a difference in sound is anyone's guess. Since you already have it, why not give it a try? Of course you need to make sure its voltage isn't turned up too high and it has enough amp for the device. But you already knew that I am sure.
