Thanks Steve. The link didn't work for me though I'm afraid.
It's been a little while since my OP. In the meantime, I found a cheap pre-owned pair of Van den Hul D102 Mk III cables terminated in Nakamichi RCAs, for about £20 on an auction site. This was just another cheap experiment really, but I really liked what they did; they have a nice warmth, a sweet sound on my system.
Then about 2 weeks ago I ordered a pair of Chord Shawline RCA to 5 Pin Din on a 60 day return if I didn't like them. I've put around 200 or so hrs of music through them now, and to be honest, I don't like them; they are a tad sterile for my taste, unlike the the VDH D102 MK IIIs.
I'm now thinking of returning the Chord Shawline in exchange for VDH The First Ultimate MK IIs, as I understand they are similar to the D102s, but non-metallic, carbon construction, and also have a warmth, but detailed, with a smooth top end, which appeals to me.
Does anyone have much first hand experience withe VDH The First Ultimate MKII and confirm the qualities I've mentioned, and would recommend them?
Thanks very much
