12v trigger setup with 2-channel and HT setup.

I’m not sure how to connect my system using the 12v triggers to power up the system and I am wondering if you could give me some tips.

I have a Parasound JC 2 BP Preamp and a Parasound A21+ in home theater bypass setup. This runs my 2-channel listening as I listen to a lot of 2-channel music. (I don’t mind if the Emotiva RMC1 Processor and Emotiva XPA-11 amp  also fire up.)

My goal here is to make this a no-brainer for my wife to turn on one device and everything else powers for home theater mode.

Right now I manually (remote control) power up the JC2 and the RMC1 each separately. However if my wife forgets to power up the JC2, the Left and Right fronts don’t run. The JC2 needs to be powered on for the signal to pass through the HT Bypass.

I thought perhaps the RMC1 could power up the amps and the JC2, but that doesn’t seem to work. The JC2 appears to flip out and shutdown...  I do have a 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapter for the JC2 as this is the default on that preamp.

I’m looking for the wisdom of this group to assist me and I appreciate it.

Thank you for your ideas and tips.

No, you can’t, because the JC2 does not has trigger input.

JC2 power consumption: 25 watt standby; 30 watts when turned on.

  1. Leave the JC2 power on at all times, it only draw 5 more watts than standby.
  2. Set the "Turn On Options"  on the A21+ to "Audio".
  3. Set the RMC1 to turn on the XPA-11 via 12V trigger.

Every time after your listening session, change the JC2 back to pass through, so your wife only need to turn on the RMC-1 to power up the whole system.

Thank you very much for the suggestion. I will set it up that way and see how it goes.  I appreciate it.
