1200GR mat and Funk Firm Achromat

 I’m getting used to my new 1200 GR Technics turntable. I noticed that it has a machined lip just like all the old 1200’s do. I also noticed that the 3mm mat that comes with the deck has no relief for the lip.  I found this out because I ordered a Funk Firm Achromat and when I went to put it on the turntable I saw that the Funk Firm did not have a relief cut either. I went and did a little research and found that there is a Funk Firm mat just for the 1200 with a relief cut. So what gives with the stock mat not having a relief cut?
