Diural's Roman Centurion Spk:Good or already Gone?
I've owned the Roman Audio Centurions for well over a year now and love every aspect of them. You mentioned that you feel they are quite expensive for a two-way speaker, if you spend any amount of time with them. I think you will find them well wo...
McCormack DNA amp options....
The speakers I am using are Roman Audio Centurions, they are rated at 93db. They don't require a lot of power, but will handle tremendous amounts.
Cary slp 88 with McCormack dna 125?
The components that you are asking about are a little newer than mine, Cary SLP-50B and McCormack DNA 0.5, but IMO a tubed preamp is great with a McCormack amp. As a matter of fact, a Cary SLP-50B just came up for sale on Audiogon today (not mine)...
My heart goes out to the families of Columbia
Please remember to lower your flags to half staff... May God bless and be with all.
am I nuts?
have you considered cable upgrades? A good friend of mine uses a Denon AVR-3300 for both 2 channel and his HT. It sounds pretty good for an A/V reciever. I would start, if you haven't already, by upgrading the speaker cables on your mains. I would...
Speaker recommendation - 3K budget
Here on Audiogon, there is a listing for A pair of Roman Audio Senators. These are awesome speakers. I own a pair of these, along with a pair of Roman Audio Centurions. Very awesome speakers, check them out.
PS Audio 600 power cord upgrade??
I've never used a PS Audio powerplant, but I highly recommend Virtual Image PC's. I put them up against some Ensemble Megaflux PC's that I used to own, the Ensemble went up for sale the next day.
Need a good used tube pre $1500 or less
Try a Cary SLP-50B. With $1500 to spend, you can buy the preamp, upgrade the tubes, and upgrade the power cable. They are excellent little preamps and you can generally find one used for about half of the $1500 you have allowed yourself. You might...
American made TT???
I am a dues paying union member (UAW), so I buy Ameriacn made whenever possible. It generally costs a little more, but I see it as trying to keep jobs in this country. If possible, I'd really prefer to buy a TT that is Union made, but I can't imag...
Filling my speaker stands to weigh it down?
you can buy a 50lb. bag of play sand at Home Depot for about $3.00
still researching
Check out Roman Audio - www.romanaudio.com - I use the Centurions and found that they have a high WAF too.
Building a system for a friend...Please Help
I would suggest a McCormack DNA 0.5 amp and a CDP like the California Audio Labs CL-15, with variable output voltage. Later on your friend, as funds permit, can have the amp upgraded by SMC Audio. He could probably get into both of these pieces he...
Attn: McCormack DNA 0.5 owners
Thank you. I will call SMC and ask Steve McCormack what he thinks.
What do your kids see?
I have a little one that has just turned three and he has figured out how to turn my amp and pre-amp on and off. I guess that I am lucky that I have a room soley for my audio gear. Once I saw that he was starting to get curious about daddy's toys,...
Power Cord Stress
If you want to try a different power cable, try a Virtual Image "Pile Driver". These cables look like Nordost speaker cables on steroids, yet are flexible enough to bend them into about an 8 inch diameter circle with little/no effort. They are tru...
