Straightwire Serenade to Crescendo comparison
That is one of the things that I asked Al, owner of V.I. about and he told me that he was still working on prototypes at this time.
Straightwire Serenade to Crescendo comparison
Like I stated in my previous post, it is an outstanding product at a great price. I used to recommend the Crescendo's just as much, but I found something that is better and cheaper, so why not tell people about it. My speaker cables are Kimber Sel...
Duty free or not?
I at one point, a couple of years ago, purchased something, can't remember what it was, from an individual in Germany. He shipped the item to me via Fed-Ex, Fed-Ex sent me an import duty bill for something like $30.
Straightwire Serenade to Crescendo comparison
David, You're right, I do have an agenda here. With my post in this thread, I apparently peaked your interest enough that you went back and read SOME of my previous posts about the Virtual Image cables. Had you taken the time to look through my fu...
Know of a book on audio basics?
I would recommend reading "The Complete Guide To High-end Audio" by Robert Hartley. The book that I have is the second edition and I've had it for a couple of years now. I also recommend reading "The Master Handbook of Acoustics", it deals mostly ...
New Audiogon Categories?
I think that under the "cables" heading, instead of just listing "Interconnects", it should be broken down into analog and digital cables. I had e-mailed this suggstion in quite a long time ago and apparently they didn't think it was a good idea....
4 ohm tap vs 8 ohm tap
Hi Al. I would suggest listening to Al. He and I discussed this very same topic quiet some time ago. My speakers, Roman Audio Centurions are an 8-ohm rated speaker and I am running them on the 4 ohm taps on my tube amp. At first I didn't think the...
The tweeter on my speaker has a crater...Help
When you say that the tweeter has a "crater" in it, do you mean that it has been pushed in?? If so, have you tried pulling it out by using something like a peice of tape? If a tweeter dome gets pushed in, you can sometimes pull it out by placing s...
IC advice needed
Virtual Image Pile Driver 18 IC's. V.I. has them at an introductory price of $175 for a 4 foot pair and $150 per pair if you buy more than one. These cables easily out-performed some Straightwire Crescendo's that I used to use. Virtual Image also ...
Power cord suggestions to improve cd playback
A friend of mine uses a Denon 2800 dvd player for his source unit for 2 channel and for HT. I took a couple of my power cables over and he thought they were awesome. I use Virtual Image Pile Driver power cables. This friend of mine uses a Denon 28...
Looking for a quick answer about an HK AVR-7200
I've never owned any HK equipment, but what I can tell you is this, if you are unsure of your purchase - take it back. Then give yourself a few days to do some reading/research on A/V recievers. I know that sometimes it is hard to resist what you ...
Audioquest Sky Interconnects
If I may, I would suggest checking into the Virtual Image Pile Driver 18 interconnects. I've tried the Audience Au24 cables in my system before and didn't really care for them, I found the Au24's to be thin on the bottom end. At that time I was do...
Speaker Wires on Carpet
If you want to try the ceramic elevators, search Ebay, keyword "isolator". You can pick them up pretty cheap there. I use them, but must confess that I have heard no noticable difference. I bought the ones I've got off of Ebay really cheap, so I s...
What other speakers would you consider for this ..
I HIGHLY recommend the Roman Audio Centurions, these smoked some B&W 802's and some Dynaudio's (don't remember which model)that I had demo-ed. Every once and a while You'll see a pair come up here on Audiogon. And once you get you speakers bou...
Need Cabling suggestions
I highly recommend Virtual Image interconnects, the Pile Driver 18. A few months ago, these replaced the Straightwire Crescendo's that I was using. You didn't really specify a price range, the V.I. interconnects will run you about $200 for a 4 ft....
