B&W 805D vs. Dynaudio Contour S1.4 Contour S1.4 mainly suffers from poorish tonal (too-bassy balance).. This is a standmount designed for bass freaks. But still slightly better than 805S, overall. Not heard the 805Di yet.If you could afford Confidence C1, this is the way to go.
Lively and Dynamic SS Preamp... What about Parasound Halo JC-2..? No phono input, but satisfactory regarding all other requirements. Very good price btw.
Primare I30 and B&W 803D, enough power?? I would suggest addition of another amp for bass drivers, i.e. trying bi-amping. Natural choice in this context should be the Primare A33.2 (120Wpc).Having pretty extensive experience with B&W (not exactly 803D, but smaller 803S - used to own ...
Pass Labs preamp with Krell Evo amp. Anyone..?? @Thesoundhouse, thank you - this is a very insightful reply.Have you had any experience with other brands of preamplifiers - say, Ayre, Electrocompaniet, Audio Research, Parasound (JC-2) in combo with Krell power amp..??Btw, it is not the first ti...
Classe CA-M400 vs EC NEMO vs Parasound Halo JC-1 Well, I agree Pass mono amps might be somewhat better than three above, but remain out of my reach budget wise. Thanx for input.
Marantz SC 11 S1 Pre amp Winoguy, any impressions sound wise..??
Marantz SC 11 S1 Pre amp Winoguy, I can't contribute this thread with anything straight on-topic (never heard the SC-11S1), but I can say that another similar topic I've started (concerning bigger Marantz preamp SC-7S2) remains without any input so far (three days). It see...
Weak ROTEL phono section Andrew,I strictly use RCA outputs of the RC-1090 (and RCA inputs of RB-1090) cause these Rotel designs are pseudobalanced, so no any benefit from XLR connections.Perhaps Almarg is right - you have to accept differences in loudness between CD and t...
Weak ROTEL phono section I use the same preamp with (modest) Project turntable. No issues, loudness correct. It seems to be some problem in catridge itself, or perhaps wiring, as someone alredy mentioned.
Bladelius Ymer power amp - any experiences..??? Thanx Mu6 for resurecting this topic after more than a year... Meanwhile I became owner of Krell Evo 400 pair of monoblocks, so the Bladelius Ymer is not longer a subject of active inquiery for me. Nevertheless, it could be great to know something...
Pass Lab X250 or Parasound Halo A21 As a former user of the Halo A21 I can say many good words about this mighty amp - soundwise, reliability, aesthetics, driving ability etc. But Pass X-250 should be on another level... It's just mather of class, which undoubtedly goes much higher ...
Dynaudio Confidence C1: looking for speaker cable. From a very reliable source (man who visited Dynaudio factory a while ago) I've been told that internal wiring into the Evidence line is thoroughly consisted of the Van den Hul Wind Mk II cable... Dyn people suggested him to use this cable as spea...
Krell KAV-400xi vs. Parasound A21+P3 Audiobroke, thanx for the input - even if you somewhat overlooked that my question was kinda rhetoric... My main point was that there's obviously something heavily compromised in KAV-400xi power supply. Some "empty" watts, with no current enough, ...
Krell KAV-400xi vs. Parasound A21+P3 Tusa, good point regarding the KAV-2250...KAV-400xi: 750VA transformer for 200Wpc, 14 kilos overall.KAV-2250: 2000VA transformer for 250Wpc, 31 kilos overall. If 750VA can handle 200/400Wpc, why waste so much bigger transformer (2000VA..!!) for ONL...
Krell KAV-400xi vs. Parasound A21+P3 Stevecham - high appreciations for your input and further clarifications of JA measurments...However, I could not live with amp proclamed at 200/400Wpc (8/4 ohms) with a smallish 750VA transformer. Cooling devices aside...If I were asked, I would ... |
