Six DAC Comparison
Don has certainly described the Mojo X '24 experience far better than I could've, but so far -- and he's a good bit further along on burn-in than I am -- his words echo my own experience to the letter.
Six DAC Comparison
@bluethinker , while we haven't received the Mearason in the shop yet (we're still recovering from having five ( ! ) rooms at Capital Audio Fest), the Mojo X '24 is up at around 150 hours now, and is definitely a keeper. While I don't have anywher...
Six DAC Comparison
Thanks @bluethinker; I'll do so, for sure. And my workaround for the Rose is simply to use the RCA coax output (Rose) to it's mate on the Mojo, and run my transport through AES to the corresponding Mojo port. And yes @devinplombier, I meant to say...
Six DAC Comparison
While I’m very happy with my Merason Dac1 MKii for the moment, I’m intrigued by the Mojo dacs based on your review.  @bluethinker, I'm very keen on doing a side-by-side comparo with the Mearason, and we should be getting one in the shop (Alm...
Six DAC Comparison
A quick update to my HiFi Rose 150B / Mojo X ’24 post, above. After much back and froth [sp. intentional] with Benjamin and a fair bit of additional research on my part, it appears that the Rose’s manual at 3.5 Connection Between USB 3.0 Audio Out...
Six DAC Comparison
Anyone using the Mojo Mystique know what USB receiver it uses ? According to Benjamin, "we are using one of the most common XMOS USB input receivers."
Six DAC Comparison
Based on my careful reading of this extraordinary thread, I've reached out to Benjamin, and purchased a Mystique X '24. So hats off to @mitch2 for a really informative and thoughtful analysis of the top players in what can be considered the semi-a...
Six DAC Comparison
Thanks, Mitch -- I’ll look forward to reading the next installment, for sure. Interestingly enough, we sell both Merason and Bricasti at the shop where I work (Alma Music + Audio in Sterling, VA), and a colleague from another shop whose opinion I ...
Six DAC Comparison
I'd just like to say that this is brilliant, and greatly appreciated... particularly from the perspective of someone who's in the midst of searching for an extremely high quality DAC that won't break the bank. Products in the Mojo Audio line-up ha...
Question on PrimaLuna EVO 400 Amp: Fully Balanced (Differential), or No?
And yet another blink in Geological Time goes by, when I finally respond by saying...   The Floyd is still going strong, and I've rolled the tubes to some very sweet NOS 60s & 70s RCA tubes, which has taken it to a whole new level. That, and...
DH Labs - Shunyata Cable Comparison
I have quite a few DH Labs cables in my system, and am quite convinced that they've improved the SQ of my systems across the board. They may not be the "be all & end all," but at their price points, I think they're very, very hard to beat.
Question on PrimaLuna EVO 400 Amp: Fully Balanced (Differential), or No?
I know this is quite a while later, but I thought I'd follow up & close the loop. I ended up returning both the amp & pre to Upscale, who were very gracious about taking them back. They tested both, and could find nothing wrong. Before sen...
Esoteric E-03 Phono Stage
Resurrecting again: has anyone compared the E-03 (or the newer E-02) with a Pass Labs XP-17?
Question on PrimaLuna EVO 400 Amp: Fully Balanced (Differential), or No?
Well, it appears I spoke too soon. The EVO 400 amp & pre developed a nasty ground loop hum / buzz that no amount of troubleshooting could cure. Indeed, the steady 20 - 25 dB bug zapper sound persisted, even after every source and peripheral wa...
Question on PrimaLuna EVO 400 Amp: Fully Balanced (Differential), or No?
Confirming the above -- I heard back from REL yesterday, after they had reached out to the PrimaLuna Mothership.  The EVO 400 is a standard (not Differential) amp, and so -- at least in single sub, non-monoblock (stereo) configurations, the black ...
