Tube measurement question...
Those are testing numbers. The bias should be set based on the amp manufacturer’s recommendations. General rule of thumb is you shouldn’t exceed the recommendation, but going lower is OK and prolongs tube life.

Crossing Left and Right Speakers
I was always of the general impression that soundstage was a relationship between space (audio reflections - both as captured in the recording and from our space), time (frequency - and how it interacts with space and nth order reflections), and o...
Bad news for home theater enthusiasts
I’m going to start stocking up on VHS myself - my analog retirement plan. See cassettes.
First Tube amp suggestions
The first tube amp foray for me was a Yaqiun MC13S - or something like that. It was a - I wonder if this is any good - moment. I still have it. 40 wpc push pull, El 34 design. Nothing bad to say about it other than it ran through power tubes prett...
Any High End Tube Preamps with *gasp tone controls?
Tone control, on top of RIAA re-equalization, is a must for 78’s. I have a Foz SS-Ex (gives bass boost) and a Transcendent Sound Fixer (Tube kit - high and low tone controls) both on a tape loop so they can be bypassed for ‘critical listening’.  N...

Matching the cartridge to the phono stage
The Hana SL is a great cart — especially for the cost - I use the mono version as my daily driver. I’ve used it in a few configurations. When the resistance is pinched, it tends to smooth out more than it already is. I think if you’re starting out...
Am I broken? Am I stuck? Do I have to return my audiophile card now?
It sounds to me like you haven’t finished your experience with the Sasha’s yet. You are being pulled due to the opportunity and the savings on a future upgrade. While the urge to upgrade will always be there, the urge to ‘downgrade’ - or ‘holdgrad...
How Do Amps Affect Soundstage?
The soundstage is there. Some combinations of Amp + Speakers get in the way - some do not.
Can a system sound too Holographic?
I’ve always thought there was a natural tension between sound stage and the bloom of the individual instruments. If they are narrowly or tightly placed in the soundstage but not allowed to expand within their positions - too holographic only becau...
Curious to know what you guys think/like about Pink Floyd's early work
I suppose I’m in the minority on this one. Random play in the car just set me up with Astronomy Domine coming in today. Their earlier at work is best in my opinion. I stop listening before DSOTM - can stand them after that. They are a good example...
Whats on your turntable tonight?
Pylon - Box Set.    The best of the set is the raw Razz Tape disc. Don’t know how I missed these guys in the past - but they are my new obsession. I have no idea what they put in the water in Athens Georgia, but it’s been a constant hot spot for ...
The problem with PLC
I dunno. Rooms aren’t perfect. Ears aren’t perfect. Amps aren’t perfect. I would think a perfect audiophile could compliment any imperfect speaker with an opposingly imperfect amplifier and end up with a perfectly balanced sound. Maybe audiophile ...
Is soundstage DEPTH a myth?
Try listening to more mono music and tune the room to that. It does exist.
