Getting the Upgrade Bug Again Greginnh - The KT120's will be punchier and more forward sounding in the highs and lows but the mids won't be as luscious sounding as the EL34's.
Getting the Upgrade Bug Again Greginnh - What are your stock tubes? El34's - 6550's - KT88's or Kt120's? Is there a brand name? I can really change up the sound of my Octave by putting in different brands and types.
Getting the Upgrade Bug Again Which tubes do you have in the Primaluna now? Have you considered swapping them with something else? But if looking for something new check out the Octave V70SE/V80/V110. Make sure to add a black box or super black box. The latter would be better w...
Buying equipment If you looking for a great sound from a simple system consider the Dynaudio Xeo wireless speaker. If you want to step up a bit the new Focus XD series would be even better. Presently the Focus XD works best with a digital cable to the master speake...
External Drive Help I also received an error message - cyclic redundance checkThat's a hardware error where the data in a sector does not match up with the number stored for verification. You were lucky that it was recovered. The only thing that may have caused that...
Dynaudio C1 II owners - how loud can you go? A couple of years ago another member had a similar symptom. But he described it as a screech/scratching sound in the mids (vocals). He also had a V70SE (by that time I upgraded to the V110). He contacted Dynaudio and they thought it was a problem ...
Impact of speaker stands? The higher end Raidho's require there 3k dollar stands...thats insane..With the Raidho the stands de-couple the speakers. Talk about wobble!! But they sure look good. I never tried a solid stand like my Dynaudio Stand4 but I would guess it would r...

Digital Amplifier Questions I'll try the most basic explanation.I really only know that Class A amps are usually lower wattage, inefficient (whatever that means aside from drawing more electricity from the outlet...), run hot, but sound good (right?).The output is always on ...
Scansonic mb serie Something you may want to do if possible. Bring your current speakers with you and compare them side by side. That said I do not have first hand experience with the Scansonic break in. The 3.5's do go though a period where it sounds like something...
Scansonic mb serie I did hear the MB 2.5's with 70hrs and they sounded almost like a different speaker (for the better that is). We didn't put the 3.5's back to compare but my dealer said they sound much better than with 30 hrs. For the money the Scansonic is hard t...
Small Floorstander That Uses Ribbon Tweeters? Reverendo If you can find them check out the Scansonic MB 3.5's. Just make sure they are broken in. I heard them with 30 hrs and they didn't sound all great. They will sound a lot better when broken in. The 3.5's go to 30hz with a very small footp...
Bryston BP26 with Pass Labs My brother in law has a BP25 and a Pass Aelph. If he uses single ended cables between them there is a hum. Balanced cables eliminate the hum. Other than that no problems and sounds great.
Dynaudio Evidence Platinum or Consequence UE I'm not sure how many pairs of Consequence UE were made Wenge and sold in the USA but I thought my dealer said his were special order (I could be wrong). I mention that only because after he sold his pair I've seen the UE's for sale right here on ...
front vs rear ported speakers and punch Honestly you have to listen yourself. A rear ported speaker will have more bass reinforcement when closer to the rear wall. But that said it depends on the speaker. What I mean and I'll use Dynaudio as an example. The S25 and C1 are on the same le... |
