Current Alan Parsons tour: anybody seen him?
One of my all time favorite rock records is Alan's "Tales of Mystery and Imagination - Edgar Allan Poe".I can't imagine how he would tour as his "sound" is so studio/session and guest musician orientated.
Help Me Expand My Music Taste
The above posts recommend Blues, here are some thoughts on JAZZ...As a teenager I grew up with Rock, Hard rock, and Progessive Rock.. at age 16 or so I began to wade into the waters of Jazz... my first Jazz records were predictably Jazz-rock fusio...
Speaker Lifespan
I have a pair of JBL's from 1972 and no problems what so ever. Maybe the crossover caps start changing value over decades??
Stand alone tweeters
o.k. here's another thing.. what happens when you add the Walker high definition links into the picture??First we have the theory that even if I can't hear way way up there, the supertweeter makes a difference in the sound...Then we have Walker's ...
Denon DP-500M Turntable?
I used to have a DD Denon, early 80's model, until I heard a Rega demonstrated side-by-side with the Denon... the Rega won hands down. I bought a Rega p-3 about a year later and have stayed with Rega these last 20 years

Vandersteen 2ce sigs? Beginner needs guidance.
You will probably like the Vandersteens just fine. Don't skimp on the amp however.. The V's deserve a really refined and muscular amp with control IMHO.
The 5 Jazz Recordings You Would Take With You...
Surfgod:"Stratus" was going to be my fusion #6 choice....and then the obligatory Weather report "Heavy Weather" and RTF "Romantic Warrior"
The 5 Jazz Recordings You Would Take With You...
And if the Natives won't allow fusion...1. Miles Davis -- Someday My Prince Will Come2. John Coltrane -- Lush Life3. John Coltrane -- Love Supreme4. Sonny Clarke -- Cool Struttin5. Miles Davis -- Kind of Blue (of course)
The 5 Jazz Recordings You Would Take With You...
And now, for something (almost) completely different...I'll go with five fusion pieces:1. Weather Report -- Tale Spinnin2. Stanley Clarke -- School Days3. Chick Corea -- Light as a Feather4. Jean Luc Ponty -- Enigmatic Oceans5. John Mclaughlin -- ...
Your favorite classical composers/works?
Ajahu:Enjoyed reading your thread."But in the third world still maybe there are music and poets..." Immediately the music of Bob Marley comes to mind and he now is regared as almost a prophet by many in the islands.
Upgrade from Rega Planet
Went from original Planet to Rega Jupiter 2000 and love the Jupiter.
Best John Lee Hooker vinyl old and re-issue
Always liked the title cut "Healer" with Santana
Your favorite classical composers/works?
Music I really never tire of: anything Ravel, anything Debussy, anything Beethovan, anything Mozart. I remember record stores in the late 70's and especially Tower Records in NYC in the early 80's.. a whole FLOOR of classical records (then later c...
