Do high dollar mono blocks truly improve the Sound Quality over the mid tier amps
I use a pair of bridged Classe DR3 VHC monos in one of my systems and feel that they still hold up very well to current amps.  I'd be inclined to stick with them if I were you - any improvement might be infinitesimal but at a far from infinitesima...
VPI Industries---Love the Company as Much as their Turntables
I am still using a TNT V in my main system, and I always found VPI responsive to queries.
Need A 10-30 watt Tube Power Amp, Lower Heat Output, Which Sounds Great, Under $1500 Used
Here you go:  https://www.ecoustics.com/articles/quad-303-amp-33-preamp/
Tube or solid state phono stage?
Not sure you can generalize - I use two solid state phono stages and one tube based one and all sound quite good. The best is a solid state classic - the John Curl Vendetta which is the best I have heard although we ran it against a last model Her...
Upgrading to a stand alone DAC
I have played about with stand alone DACs since I bought my first Arcam Black Box way back when.  I have found that sound quality is not necessarily directly related to price, so auditioning is important.  I am currently using a Moon DAC in one sy...
Heavy difficult to move speakers- how do you deal?
I fitted commercial casters to my 400 lb + per speakers to position them and after marking the floor with tape, I left the casters on in case I ever wanted to change position.  I never have and I doubt that being on casters rather than spikes affe...
You can't afford a Lambo Veneno, so get this..
Wouldn't want the table, but I wouldn't mind the record - used to own a V12 Lambo.
Phono Stage in inputs for 2 tonearms
Classe DR-7, but good luck finding one!
Your Ultimate Phono Preamp: Which One Would You Choose?
The Herron VTPH-2A is an excellent unit - we did an A/B against the Vendetta SCP2-D in my main system and it was pretty much a tie.  Now discontinued, but a lot easier to find than another John Curl Vendetta. I also use a Conrad Johnson Premier 1...
New expensive power cord for amp and no change in sound?
When I moved to my current house I had the electrical service completely overhauled with new main panel, and discrete lines for my main stereo system, and hospital grade receptacles.  I then did some testing with a couple of others present, using ...
Heavy speakers: How to be able to reposition?
One of my systems uses Wilson Maxx 2s which weigh over 400 lbs. each. The speaker bases are threaded for spikes, but the threading also takes heavy duty commercial casters which helped set up a lot - and while you could (somehow) jack them straigh...
The Psychology of Constant (Equipment) Change
@firefly627s Another nice thing about composing more than one system out of gear already on hand is that you can create different systems with different strengths. I have one system that uses Martin Logan CLS electrostatics - if I want to listen...
The Psychology of Constant (Equipment) Change
Audiophilia nervosa is encouraged by equipment manufacturers who have to make you wonder about your existing gear if they are to sell to you. I resist it, and it helps because I just shift some gear from one system to another every few years (I h...
Stolen property
If you own them, take an electric engraving tool and carve your SIN (Canada) or SSN (US) on the plate that carries the speaker outlets on the back of the speaker.  When buying speakers ask whether there are any marks like that on them, and declin...
Throw it out!
I have known people that apply the same solution to marriages that displease them, but of course that is a considerably more expensive solution than segregating or selling an album....
