If Grado is the Ying, Is a Clearaudio the Yang???
I compared the Grado Platinum with the Aurum when making my latest cartridge purchase. Having always used Grado, and liked them, I was surprised at how much different I found the Aurum to be sonically. The Platinum was flat out beaten through the u...
How good are the Harbeth 40's?
The 40's are an excellent speaker. I've heard them in room sizes very similar to yours, and driven by amps in the 60 to 70 watt range, with great results. I've also recently listened to them driven by the big 200 watt Pass amp, most impressive!Pau...
What is the best speaker for a small room 10X11
The Harbeth 7ES is a tremendous performer in smaller rooms. Good luck!
"Neutral" speaker cable, around 200 used
I've finally settled on the QED Silver Anniversary speaker cable. "Inexpensive" at around $300 U.S., but a great cable, top to bottom. Very natural sounding in my system.Available thru Brooklyn Audio, here on Audiogon.

S for Michael Schenker, who laid down some of the most fluid, melodic playing out there in 70's and 80's rockland with UFO.
Cartridge for Rega Planar 3 / RB300
I'm using the Clearaudio Aurum Beta with my Rega. Great sounding, but taking a long time to fully break in. Should be great with your music preferences. Tried the Grado Platinum, loved it, but chose the Clearaudio as I'm listening to more jazz and...
Regluing Album Jackets
I use a THIN application of carpenter's wood glue, put a weight on the seam till dry. Works great. No mess, bleed thru, etc.
Van Den Hul power cords
I have two Mainsstream 15mm pc's in my system. They are exceptionally quiet, neutral/natural sounding cables. I've tried various others, but the Mainsstreams are by far the best suited to my system. It's a very good product.
Which cables, power cords and conditioners.
I'll say C. Presently using Van Den Hul Mainsstream ac cable on my pre and power, and they are the quietist and most natural sounding ac cables I've tried/owned. Considering another when the $$'s allow...System is solid state.
Used DAC or Used CD Player???
I have a 63se which I combined with a Monarchy 18B and the 24/96 DIP. A great result for WELL under half of your budget of $1500. I agree with seandtaylor99, the DIP made the biggest improvement. You may consider replacing the captive power cord o...
Rock albums that sound good on your system?
Hi RTHS,Try Aerosmith "Toys in the Attic", and "Rocks". The Cult "Electric", Led Zep II, AC/DC "Highway to Hell", and "Back in Black" are also good. But man, get a poor rock recording, you might as well listen to am radio!
Average age of audiophiles
I got the bug at 18, got my first bank loan and spent it all in an hour long spree at the local stereo shop. Got more enjoyment out of that first system...I'm now 41, and fortunately for my bank, the bug never left.... Mike

Which monitor speakers are the most detailed...
Detail and musicality is a balancing act, as Tacs says. Harbeth HLP 3ES, or 7ES, have both in spades. Great speakers. Good luck!
