What selections do you play when showing off your system to others?
When pressed it can be difficult for some people to come up with a song on the spot.  Especially when surrounded by hundreds of CDs and records.  But if someone has made it into my listening room, then the odds are good I know at least a little so...
Car songs
@bikeboy52  10-4 Good buddy.  Will do.  One more for the road?  Let Me Live - Roomful of Blues  😎
Car songs
bikeboy52 Alternator IS a great friggin car tune. And Truckers Speed is a great truckin tune. Thanks for turning us on to Fred Eaglesmith. So many cool songs here. It’s Immaterial. Cool song/Cool video Kaleo, Kelsey Lu, Jan Hammer’s Crocket’s The...
Car songs
Finally, a topic near and dear to my heart -power cords notwithstanding.     I love playlists.  My “Going Mobile” playlist is a six hour, 96 song, ode to cars and being on the road and features many of the tunes suggested here.  It evolved over s...
Why do so many sellers take offense to offers on their listings?
I have to say this has been an interesting and useful thread. I made it all the way to the end so far, and that doesn’t happen very often.  So many good comments.   I’ve been an A-goner for a while now but rarely buy much, other than accessories....
Balance control?
Lewm and Slaw are correct. Using the placement of a vocalist in the mix is not reliable. And if your problem is not electronic you could be obsessing over something that could have you chasing your tail for some time, instead of enjoying your reco...
Steely Dan Catalog on UHQR Vinyl
In law school a friend and I would converse in SD lyrics to the befuddlement of others. "No marigolds in the promised land." 'Oh, no, Guadalajara won't do." Etc.   hickamore  “…solamente un tonto…”  🤓
Speaker Questions
I don't see a subwoofer in your shopping list there, so if you don't already have one, yeah, definitely, get the towers.  Even if you do already have a sub, get the towers.  If you don't already have a subwoofer, then I would say that might be a b...
Dead Bluesound Node 2
2021 Update So many happy Node2 afficionados here on A-Gon... So I eventually decided to accept BlueSound's offer on a refurbished unit at a reduced cost.  If I had to pay for service for an out of warranty piece of gear it likely would have se...
Please Educate Me
Paul6001It's a shame that the immediate response to your question was snark, but I'd like to think this is more a reflection of the times rather than our community.  However, just like other forms of social media it pays to consider your words and...
Perfect Pop Songs
Thank you CD318, I have been enjoying this thread in spite of those wishing to debate what is and isn't Pop.  Puh-leeze!  - I think you know it when you hear it.  Kudos to all of you who submitted some less obvious, but still worthy buried treasur...
Value of mint condition first pressing of Sgt. Pepper?
I have a related question. Where can you find the criteria for determining if an LP is Very Good, Near Mint, Mint, etc.? I have lots of old records that I would like to find good homes for but definitely wouldn’t want to misrepresent anything.
Affordable cables
I agree with several posters here on many of the basics. I do believe that a cable’s net effect will be system dependent. Maybe it’s a given, but first and foremost, your system has to have the resolution to reveal subtle details and differences. ...
Dead Bluesound Node 2
Mlsstl My apologies for getting your name wrong. My eyes just ain’t what they used to be. Sorry, no disrespect intended. Since my last post I remembered one other disc player I had that is also still in service. My first DVD player was a Denon tha...
Dead Bluesound Node 2
WoofMan responds  Ghulamr, while I did use the Node 2 to stream music from the internet sometimes, I primarily used it to access my 3,000 CD's worth of music files.  If I bought a mac mini or raspberry pi, would it be able to handle 33,000 16/44.1...
