How to eliminate TT feedback/vibration
It may be the turntable. I had an old PL-50 years ago and it had an aluminum platter that rung like a bell. If you could borrow a different turntable and set it up on the same shelf at least you could narrow down the problem.
VPI Flywheel or Fishing Rod Wire on Aries Motor?
Yes I use a monofilament line. The only difficulty is tieing the knot. Sometimes the line will pull right through the knot and the knot won't hold. I've tried tieing knots at both ends of the line so they won't slide through when you tie the conne...
VPI Flywheel or Fishing Rod Wire on Aries Motor?
Spider wire and other like fishing lines are made with little elasticity so the fisherman can feel every little bump on the line. There are, however, other types of fishing lines that do have a great deal of stretch in them.I've used them for year...

Turntable progress report.I've just about got my DIY TT done. As I proceeded with the project I made many changes to the original plan. Insead of using acrylic for the base or plinth i ended up using butcher block oak, and I am glad I did. The bas...

Here's where I'm at now. I've got a couple of old Pioneer tts a PL-50 and a PL-35. I've taken the PL-35 apart and I think I can use the motor, spindle/bearing and platter to construct a TT using my own design for the platten and SAMA. I own a smal...
