Best song for immediate impact when presenting or testing? There are so many great tunes which were well recorded... When I was selling audio gear in the early 80's I used Joni Mitchell's Court and Spark for vocals.. if I wanted to show off dynamics or impact of a kick drum I used Bruce Cockburn's Wonderi...
See the speakers Bose uses in their Critical Listening Room they are room dependent.. you need walls for the 901's to sound half way decent. Reflective sound adds a certain ambiance but almost sounds like the performance is taking place in a different room than the one your in.
Rythmik L12 or F12 I have the f12se and have run them with Acoustat Monitor 3's and with a pair of Magnapan 1.7's that my son owns.. beefy amp.. fast and quick, might depend somewhat on what loudspeaker you are partnering with?crossover point, etc.. but is a more ex...
Have you ever wondered why speaker manufactures do not consign speakers to dealers? I used to be a dealer back in the early 80's .. most of the audio lines have multiple items and you have to represent all or most of the time was not easy to pick only one model of their speaker if they happened to have 4 other models. Question t...
Has anyone added a small subwoofer to 2 channel and been thrilled with the result? I bought a Rythmik f12, i have been running them along with my Scientific fidelity Crown Jewels. I have also ran them with my Acoustat Monitor 3's crossover set around 60 and it was surprisingly coherent and musical.
Seasoned ears only i still own a pair of Acoustat Monitor 3's, the tube amps have been replaced with a 121 interface, like used in the newer Model 3's. they are quite large and I do not run them all of the time but when I am in the mood I haul them in and set them u...
Songs for Speaker Placement One of the best songs for vocal is Joni Mitchell's Court and Spark , I used to use that a lot when i was selling hifi.. if you can find a good quality source of that song.
Speakers for aging audiophiles - What's with today bass emphasis ? Banyanbull, good points you have made. I used to sell high end audio and more often than not people's tastes in speakers varies. There was not many 100% conclusions on which was best. There were many times I would be surprised on what a customer w...
Acoustat repair or rebuild in Texas??? Acoustats are great sounding electrostats , I still own a pair of Monitor 3's . They still sound pretty amazing when they are dialed in.
Would you buy a Dahlquit-10 if one was available for purchase near you For 375.00 it would be hard to fault not taking a chance on those. Great sounding speaker. I remember fondly listening to I believe a mobile fidelity recording of the Door's Rider's on the storm thru a pair of DQ 10's in a darkened listening room,...
Would you buy a Dahlquit-10 if one was available for purchase near you The DQ 10 was an excellent speaker in their day. It would be a different sound imo .. with good power quick, snappy bass , not a heavy low end boom to them but probably a realistic representation. DQ 10’s are a very non boxy sound with good detail...
Would you buy a Dahlquit-10 if one was available for purchase near you I used to sell those back in the day, they did a lot of things right and improved greatly with electronics.. a Hafler dh 500 could make them sing. They do need some room to breathe . Imaging is outstanding set up on their stands. Front to back d...
B&O M100 speakers I used to sell them back in the day, they are surprisingly musical, good bottom end. They like good power if I remember correctly. Get them off of the ground some. They used to have speaker stands which got them off of the ground and tilted them ...
Klipsch vs Infinity I used to sell high end audio back in the late 70's and early 80's. It always seems to come down to preferences. There never seemed to be a perfect speaker for every one.I have heard Corner horns and they have always been impressive for dynamics ...
What did Shahinian Obelisks cost in the late 1980s sorry I was off on my dates, it would have been the late 70's, I am getting old. lol. |
