Warm-up time for amps and preamps
Oops, premature send. I meant to end by saying that in many instances we continued to see visually represented change long after we believed we heard any additional changes.
Warm-up time for amps and preamps
10-15 years ago had a sound engineer come to my home and plot frequency response with MLSSA software, using test tones and sound level matched by meter. Repeated 5-6 times over the next 3 hours with the differences clearly notable on the visual gr...
Interconnects, some have directional indicators, why?
Connect a networked speaker cable in the wrong direction and wait for the fun. I was glad to only blow the rail fuses in my amps.
Your Go to CD to Impress
If I can't get a specific song, artist or genre, I like to ask whether they want to hear something they may of heard before or something that they've probably never heard before. Surprise me could get you the Kamikaze Ground Crew, Danny Gatton, or...
Ry Cooder recommendation...
I have all his recordings and enjoy each. Jazz is unlike anything else I have in my collection. Not a bad place to start.  Might be love-hate though

Nonoise, congrats on ending up with two speakers you love. I move mine along to friends and family and get to hear them occasionally. Sliding the headrest up and down on my chair is an adventure in sound shaping. Hi Douglas, yes it's me still thor...

Milpai,  despite being a member for 16 years here I've never figured out how to post photos or even a description my system. Probably not that hard. I'll take a shot at it one of these days. You have a lovely system and room. Have you tried moving...

Oops, should've included that the 15' wall is the front wall.  The speakers are nearly in the corners much like Mapman suggested. The corner is occupied by a bass trap

Good morning pmotz. The room is 15x19x7'8". I have the speaker baffles 32" from front wall and 39" from sidewalls. My chair, now the only piece of furniture-got rid of everything else-is 82" from front wall.  Near field. Now using 14 GIK panels/tr...

Thanks for the responses. Yes, going down to 15x19 was an awakening. I have since removed all furniture except my listening chair. I did experiment with a half dozen IC's and SC's a couple years ago, but that was before the move. Running Grover Hu...
Two experiments in acoustics for fun
I just treated my room with a full suite of goodies from GIK. Also re-oriented speaker and listening position per their recommendations. Glorious results initially.  Then things fell apart last night. Turned out it was a very large exercise ball ...
Need replacement woofers for my ProAc Response Twos
Try Madisound. I needed a scan speak midrange. They sent it in a couple days.
