Acoustic Zen Adagio owners/re: amplification
Whoops, forgot to ask....toe in or not to toe in...that is the question.
Acoustic Zen Adagio owners/re: amplification
Thanks to all for your responses. I have the Bryston B100 SST integrated which will be my starting point...and then try others. In the past I have had Maggies and always ended up using a tube pre and transistor power amp.
Does anyone have Magnum XM tuners?
Avguygeorge....The Polk Audio XM tuner has a digital out and an outboard DAC does improve the sonics.
Is Acoustic Zen still in business?
Duke, I totally agree, I could have been more appropriate with my headline.

Traudio, yup, I've tried the same route as you and from DSL to high speed cable to T1....zilch.

Seems to be some kind of server problem...according to the people at AZ.

Mike Smith of the DC5 r.i.p.
Very sorry to hear this....seems like Mike's last years were hard ones health wise. I may have every U.S. release the DC-5 ever did.I miss many of the Jazz and Rock greats that have passed, Ella, Sarah, Chet, Del, Roy, Dusty and so many other greats.
conrad johnson CT6 with solid state amp
Cannot comment on the CT6, but used the ART with two different solid state amps with Maggie MG20 with great results. The amps were Classe CA-400 and an Audio Research unit..the FET one that escapes me now...the Classe was better with the Maggies.
What's causing distortion at musical climax?
As pointed out above, the two most likely candidates are mistracking (either cartridge/stylus or arm...or both) and overloading your phono pre. If a friend has a different phono pre they could loan you...try it...that should give you the answer.
No wonder SACD hasn't caught on
SACD....., well in a few years with compressed downloads and MP3 dominating, we may be saying the same thing about finding Redbook CDs. We have a generation of Americans growing up on compressed music that has about as much to offer as the AM band...
Porcelain makes Stereophile list...after 19 years
I have a live cd of hers that is a Japanese pressing and was an event somewhere in England. All of the songs are from her first two albums...the self titled "Julia Fordham" and "Porcelain". Her cd "Swept" in greatly underated..and is worth a try.
WBT-210 NextGen RCA female gold vs silver ?
Talon, I can't say the difference is a big one. The things you mention were not where I heard a difference, what I heard was just a bit more subtle details...as in a female singing it was easier to hear her take breaths and on Paul Desmond, and ot...
Best jazz or blues female vocalist ever
She's none of the above, but give either of Julia Fordam's first two cd's a try and you'll see why her 19 year old cd Porcelain made Stereophile's "Records to Die For" this year.
WBT-210 NextGen RCA female gold vs silver ?
Had a pre-amp with both the gold and silver....and the silver was the better of the two.
