Caladan Rumors and Insights
My number was 85, and I went through the same PayPal hassles as you. They are now at full production so you should be getting yours soon. I received mine on Monday of this week. Be patient and give them lots of break-in time and you will be reward...
Anyone else order Caladans from Clayton Shaw?
Advisory to Caladan Owners!!!  If you have ordered or received a pair of Caladans, please know that they require a lot of break-in time. Mine sounded rather lame, with almost no bass, until I reached about 45 to 50 hours of run-in time. At that po...
Anyone else order Caladans from Clayton Shaw?
I received my Caladans today. I'll report much more once they've had some break-in time, but I can definitely say this at this point: These are very detailed very revealing speakers without sounding analytical or dry -- in fact, quite the opposite.
New streamer
I don't like to say anything negative about any product. It all comes down to personal taste. For my taste, I tried and was not a fan of the G1.1. I felt it was a bit dry and analytical. I notice that in this stream there haven't been many accolad...
Speakers - Your "Safest" Choice
You simply can't go wrong with a Wilson Audio speaker.  The Sabrina X will fir your budget, or you may consider a used Sasha.
Are cable “upgrades” just as likely to make your system sound worse?
coppy777 - How did you know I was using Nordost cables? You've described what I've heard very well. They are too bright, and I've learned that detail isn't everything -- especially not musical.
Are you on or off? What say you?
I’m Off, and still trying to get the bad taste out of my mouth from being on. Over this past year my room has seen three different streamers, multiple cable interconnects and speaker cable, and a highly reviewed integrated amp. Each one of these t...
Anyone else order Caladans from Clayton Shaw?
I have heard from a good source that Clayton is contracting with Spatial Audio to fabricate the baffles and assemble the Caladans. Spatial has the equipment, a trained and experienced crew, and lots of capacity. This is a good thing for both Clayt...
Caladan Rumors and Insights
I placed my order on October 26.  As I understand it, the Caladans have not started shipping yet to anyone, but hopefully that will change soon.
Caladan Rumors and Insights
For starters, I understand that Clayton is now taking orders for deliveries in March 2024. I’m certain the wait will continue to grow. Stereophile and Steve Guttenberg have both indicated they will be doing reviews. Here’s a link to an interview...
Full range stand mounted speakers
Here's another vote for the Harbeths mentioned above -- SHL5plus or the 40.x. I've had many speaker come through my room -- Klipsch, Tekton, Elac, Magnepan, Spaciall, and more -- but the Harbeths always prevail.
Amp question with size constraints
One of the best amplifiers out there is also one of the most compact -- the Benchmark AHB2. It has the best distortion measurements in the industry, and I can tell you from experience that it is very musical, detailed, and engaging -- and it sound...
Banchmark DAC3B vs. Denafrips Pontus II (12th Aniv.)
I have owned both the Pontus II and the Benchmark Dac2 HGC and was able to compare them side-by side for as long as I needed to. My advice is this: If you’re going the Benchmark route (which I have done) there is great value in staying with Benchm...
Worth upgrading my cables?
I have long been a cable skeptic, but I’m now a believer. Like you, I had the Canare 4S11 Star Quad cables and felt they were a definite improvement over run-of the-mill basic speaker cable. But last year I tried the Nordost Ax Angel cable, which ...
Anything close to Hegel H360 but smaller/lighter?
Others have suggested the Benchmark amp. Let me second those recommendations and add an exclamation mark! The Benchmark AHB2 is small and light weight, but delivers detail, resolution, and musicality that will best amplifiers that are much more ex...
