David Wilson must be a little annoyed...
Mapman, The league we are talking about is the accurate representation of the recorded event. Live music. I'm sorry if/that the Magico dealer 'ridiculed' you, as you say. I wouldn't ridicule anyone's personal tastes. Many people just love the Bose...

Mapman - I'm glad you enjoy your Ohm's, that's all that matters..for your tastes. But they are not in the same ballpark, or even league, as the other speakers under discussion here, in MY opinion.Enjoy the music.

Edorr, you are exactly right. And our ears change, our listening psychology changes, etc. etc. How many times have we reached semi-nirvana, only to begin to find faults or realize that our expectations and listening experiences have somehow mutate...
Big, big room -- which 10-20k speakers?
Maybe consider the large PBN whip ass speaker (WAS)
REL G2 or JL Audio F112 ..thoughts for 2 channel
I think you would really enjoy the JLs. Having said that, I think you would also enjoy spending less on a sub and getting one of these for the integration duties.http://www.dspeaker.com/en/products/anti-mode-8033.shtml
Importance of line stage pre--Who Knew?
I have always said that a tube preamp is the most important component in a system. I realize that is a controversial statement; a good source is very important too. I found I need the gain and dynamics of an active pre for listening satisfaction. ...

Why does Computers - Amp - Speakers sound better?
Part of the effect is the improvement achieved with near field listening, which has certain advantages - focus of the speaker (and short distance to the ear) and a directivity of sound that eliminates several 'room' and 'extraneous noise' issues. ...
Vintage Polk 10 b....2nd system, vinyl based...
I never thought they were overly warm. I enjoyed them very much, especially when you feed them good power.
Speaker Choices
I for one really appreciate warnings regarding business conduct. Way too few people have the courage to state their opinions and experiences with people and organizations. I for one feel like I can discern the difference between someone who speaks...
Not your everyday bookshelf speaker?
AVI 9http://www.thedigitalmusicexperts.com/TDME/AVI_ADM9_USB.htmlActive, built in dac, nice. One thing I would recommend is that you find a speaker that does not try to reach too deep into the bass (ie needs a sharp cutoff after 50-60 Hz). Once you...
CD direct to monobloks?
A quality tube preamp is the most important component in the audio chain.
Is anyone thinking about building Walsh drivers?
Great idea. Technology and materials should be there. I liked the old Ohm Fs. Everything else I've heard from Ohm in the last 20 years (including 'updates' or 'upgrades') has been VERY mediocre.
Thoughts from Joule preamp owners?
I have 2 LA-100s in different systems and they are both wonderful. Soundstage depth, warmth, detail, etc. very very good. Old school and delightful.
