Ebay selling my missing amplifier
How come the OP can’t provide details about the shipment? To get useful advice more detail would be helpful. Was the item insured? If so, did they pay the claim? Who was the shipper? It is extremely rare for FedEx or UPS to lose a shipment like ...
Vinyl Only
Pink Floyd, Mettle -- Seamus -- S1-T5. Have no idea why, but that dog howling (Seamus?) makes it unlistenable. Luckily it's the last track on S1, so an easy skip.
New expensive power cord for amp and no change in sound?
@dill - Shouldn’t you want to "prove it"? What experiment or test do you propose that will allow for a fair evaluation? There’s no "better", there’s just different. Beyond a certain level of build or materials quality, more money gets you nothing ...
New expensive power cord for amp and no change in sound?
Unless there was something very wrong with your last power cord, or it was just a very poorly made one, you're not going to here any differences other than those that occur within your own mind via confirmation bias. This has been tested to death....
Music first or sound first?
Music first. You want 'sound', just go outside.  ~Wes
Thin Line Between Critique and Courtrooms: A Dialogue on the Recent Audiophile Drama
You're right guys! I didn't read the whole thread. After learning that they were set up wrong, missing feet and holes in the bottom, I ASSUMED that there was a request and a refusal to remeasure based upon the Audioholics video. My bad!
Thin Line Between Critique and Courtrooms: A Dialogue on the Recent Audiophile Drama
Look, if you were the maker of a sports car, and I was reviewer of that car, and I did some road tests with the tires grossly underinflated, with the emergency brake left on while I was driving it, and the test tracks that I used to test it were m...
How Is This Possible? Must be Counterfeits
Nordost selling a cable for $60k is not a scam if you believe that it makes your system sound better. It is also true that no one will be able to rank any group of high-end cables by price, and you could probably include a few quality made Chines...
Are You a Swifty?
@waytoomuchstuff  Your musical references are all things that I like a lot. They are all very singular in their sound. So based upon that, here are a few things to try that you might like: Woods - Strange to Explain Vetiver - Up on High Real Est...
Are You a Swifty?
@tylermunns I’ve slowly, very slowly, come to the conclusion you have come to about Antonoff. He HAS made Lana more bland and I keep hoping she’ll find a new producer, or go back to one like Dan Auerbach. Her writing I think remains strong... bu...
Are You a Swifty?
@tylermunns  Ha! You're right! I should not make that distinction unless asked to. Regarding Lana Del Rey -- have you listed to her album "Norman Fucking Rockwell"? She's an exceptional songwriter. She does not write by committee like say, Beyon...
Are You a Swifty?
@tylermunns You’ll get no argument from me regarding the fake divide between male and female artists. When I ask myself what am I in the mood to listen to, I don’t think I’ve ever thought about it in terms of ’male’ or ’female’ artist. I think mor...
Are You a Swifty?
@toro3 I don’t believe in most maxims either, especially when it comes to our own  minds, but these observations that you listed are good things to consider and think about. Even as a kid there were albums that didn’t grab me right off, but there...
Are You a Swifty?
@tylermunns "Perhaps what you’re saying is, “there is great potential for personal growth in exposing oneself to stuff they typically assume to be crap, as one may surprise oneself and avoid a certain stagnation of musical awareness,” or, as Werne...
Are You a Swifty?
@tylermunns  I'm able to appreciate songcraft without always being interested in what the writing is about (and I'm far from literate with Taylor's full catalog). There are many pop artists that I've sampled where I would never buy an album becau...
