$1K CD Player for Amp w/ truly balanced inputs I am not sure, but perhaps Rotel offers a model that meets your requirements.
Cary cares and now I care about Cary. I haven't had any experience with Cary, but have experienced the same with Ralph Karsten and his associates at Atma-Sphere Music Systems. In addition to designing and building great products, their genuine customer service and avid dedication to t...
HELP: how to compensate too laid-back source Marigo dots on the walls will provide more dynamics and detail if you think these are things you are in need of. I went from a NAD 514 to a Marantz SA-14 and I know exactly how you feel, I think. I loved the tonality of the 514, but resolution was...
Add DAC to Philips 963sa or Arcam DV-88P ??? Ric is pretty impressed with the upgraded performance of the Philips unit. As is often the case, I haven't heard one myself. I don't know if he offers a balanced differential output option. I would think he could give you some references regarding...
Add DAC to Philips 963sa or Arcam DV-88P ??? Consider having your Philips 963 modified by Ric Schultz at Electronic Visionary Systems.
The absolute best and worst-sounding CD you own ? The ones that come immediately to mindBest: First Impression Music - River of Sorrow2nd Best: Reference Recordings - Dick Hyman: From The Age of SwingWorst: B.B. King Songs of Praise (content is great, recording is terrible, bad bootleg type sound)
What is your most beautiful component? My Atma-Sphere M-60 amps and 208 turntable are both very appealing to my sensibilities, visually and aurally.I feel the same about my Atma-Sphere MP-1 preamp and Köchel K300 speakers. The MP-1 is probably about as plain looking as you can get, yet...
Speaker Recommendation Depending on your budget and priorities I recommend the Köchel K200 for your application. Everything will sound great with these, especially jazz.
How is the OTL sound like? Ditto to what's been posted above. When I first heard my Atma-Sphere M-60's (I bought them used, without an audition) I literally had that same warm/fuzzy feeling I had when I was courting my wife.Thomas, did you first hear the M-60's paired with ...
Do you own the last amp you'll ever buy? I fully expect that my Atma-Sphere M-60 amps will be the last amps I will ever own, given the fact that I don't expect to ever move away from my Köchel K300 speakers either.Of course things can change, but it would take some pretty spectacular per...
Audio Synthesis DAX Discrete vs. Meitner DAC6 I own the DAX Discrete, but have not heard the Meitner. I don't know of anyone who has heard both units. The DAX Discrete is a very high resolution DAC that offers truly outstanding performance. The claims made about this DAC at the Audio Synthesi...
Is anyone familiar with the Edgarhorn Slimline? I don't know the answer to the Lowther comparison. They certainly played loud enough for my tastes (I like music pretty loud too). As for the "involving" comment, I would say that is probably due to the dynamic contrasts that a horn loudspeaker of...
Manley Steelhead or others?..... I use an Atma-Sphere MP-1 and the idea of seeking better performance with a different preamp NEVER enters my mind.
Is anyone familiar with the Edgarhorn Slimline? They are VERY involving and a great speaker for the price. Some type of bass enhancement is probably a must. It would be real interesting to hear these with the VBT subwoofer. |
