So Weird- No Stylus Contact Woofer Pumping with Hana ML and Elac PPA-2
Nothing that has been offered as solutions seem viable. Static is random, forget about it. The only suggestion that makes some sense is the the possibility on a weight sensor on the table to detect record weight. The Achromat is much lighter than ...
Croft phono integrated vs Croft Regulated Pre-Amp
why Teflon tape on fuses? Makes no sense.
A decent integrated amp under 2K ...
I may be late to the table here but I believe one thing that does not get talked about when choosing an amp for a highly efficient set of speakers is damping factor. Choosing a normal solid state amp on efficient speakers will strangle them. Judd...
Croft phono integrated vs Croft Regulated Pre-Amp
All is left now is the wait,  around 4 weeks
Croft phono integrated vs Croft Regulated Pre-Amp
Well I have ordered a 25R preamp and 7R amp. In looking at all the work building regulated versions of their amp/preamp I am going to assume Glenn did not do that to waist money.
Technics SB-G90 Speaker's
I have to confess that since I had these speakers new I had been running the Supra speaker cables in the wrong direction. I hesitated saying this because I can hear the engineers eyes rolling but it made a dramatic difference in bass weight and dy...
What do audiophiles do in their cars?
I listen to NPR in my car. Not at all interested in car audio.
Technics SB-G90 Speaker's
My SB-G90's are on the long wall and are set out around 40 inches. I have they angled in to where I can just see the inside panel. I have not measured they may be around 9 feet apart.  This was basic Audio Physic setup with my couch set against th...
Technics SB-G90 Speaker's
I have not spent much time here. I had a considerable amount of time getting these set up correctly. I bought a Marantz KI-Ruby before buying these speaakers and spent months trying to get them to image. It was if the music was stuck to the speake...
Stand out phono stages
The phono stage in my Rowland Concentra integrated was stellar. That said I have been listening to MM cartidges latley and settled on A Soundsmith Boheme cartridge mated to there top MM stage. I have just spent the last three weeks on the power su...
Quad II/forty problem solved
First off I think the parts you are referring to are resistors not capacitors. My guess it was one of the KT88's but that is a WOG (wild ass guess.) Is it possible for a KT88 to be bad or fail in a way to make it draw and abnormal amount of heater...
what is an ideal tube amp
If you want to save some bucks check out Mapletree Audio preamps and a pair of their Super Stealth amps. Classic circuits and just different enough. SET's will work with horns but having a more controlled bass lower output impedance will never hurt.
Killing sibilance distortion - VPI & Jubilee
I happened upon this thread and thought I would chime in a few years late. My Black Widow arm and Empire 2000E/III has 'O' sibilance problems. I also tracks like a hound dog on a hot dog. My Denon 301 MKII in the same setup was very good but not t...
Ray Samuels F117 Nighthawk vs. PS Audio GCPH
I have listened to the Nighthawk with a number of cartridges and it has performed very well in my system. It has a large presentation that never gets restricted in size during symphonic crescendos. I would describe it to have a full rich sound, no...
surface noise and cartridge/ phono pre questions
Static charge on records is also a very strong candidate, especially if your in house conditions include lack of humidity. First things first.
