Pass Labs Thank You I would like to join the group, I have a XONO phone stage. It wasn't broke but I was not happy with the way it was matching up with my high output cartridge. The team at pass was very helpful walking me through adjusting the gain and even did a fu...
B&W 803D vs N802 I own a pair N802 & N803 speakers. I hope to upgrade to the diamond 802's. I can't comment on the diamonds because I haven't heard them in my system but there is no comparison between the N802 and N803. The 802's blow the 803's out of the wate...
Any experience with Cary CAD 500 Could be because they don't play like a 500 watt amp. I'm not going to bash Cary they make good products. I auditioned them in my home on a pair of N802's with a audio research Ref 2 pre and wadia 861 SE CDP. While they sounded good and detailed t...
The choice of wall receptacles I recently added three dedicated circuits using 10/2 romex on 20 amp breakers and the Wattgate 381's. It seemed a bit expensive at the time However you can pick them up for around a $100.00 or less used. IMHO there was a immediate improvement in m...
Dynavector 10 X 5 Or Other MC In Same Price Range? I own a Dynavector 10X5, and find it to be just okay. It is a high output cartridge. So you may need to check your pre-amp for sensitivity. In my case it distorts at high volume. I personally would not buy Dynavector, it offers no bass to speak of.
Biamping question Mats,Normally you would want to match cables. If you are concerned about them being the same lenght why wouldn't you be concerned about them being the same cable? It maybe slight but each type of cable has it's own sonic signature by mixing you ma...
breaker, breaker. I went with 20 amp breakers that fit my panel. That is your limitation you usally can't mix and match breakers with a panel. While you are at it ask for 10 gauge wire not the usual 12 gauge used for 20 amp circuits. That will certainly make a diff...
HELP - Electrical / Wiring with new build of home Gentleman,If I may jump in Copper is clearly better. So with that said you can't control what the ultility pulls to the house but from the meter into your house you can control. If you are paying a builder I'm sure a reasonable amount of $$$$$ you...
B&W Nautilus 800.....where's the bass? I have N802's which has 2X8 inch woofers. Trust me plenty of bass. Don't get me wrong it's not like bass that you would get out of speakers built for Discos ie, read boomy. More of a natural sound. I agree with above post that B&W Nautilis spe...
Good/great preamp with ht pass through? Thoughts? If you are into tubes or would like a change of pace. Take a look at audio research. There reference line comes with a HT bypass. It may give your systema a nice warm sound if you are using solid state. I was amazed at the differnce it made on my ...
bi-amp or not ot bi-amp? bi-amp if you can think about it, why do they make mono amps? Why do most upgrades involve adding a larger/better power supply? Most speakers / systems perform better 1 when they re not driven to max capacity and 2 when they have plenty of power t...
Bi-amping with "split mono-blocks"? Hi,I have the exact situation that you are describing. I use separate stero amps to power my bi-wire N802's. I use a spliter on the pre amp to give me two outputs for each channel. I use one side of the amp to power the bottom portion of the speak...
Original spikes for B&W N802s...who has them? I've found B&W to go above and beyond in taking care of their customers. It sounds like you are not the original owner, if that is true owner there maybe a limited as to what they can do for you. I do know that the original owner was entitled ...
Opinions, Is this better for the Members? I have come to rely on the old feedback system. Meaning I would not do business with a person who has a neutral or negative feedback. It seems to me that a person only gets negative or neutral feedback from not following through on a transaction. ...
Are expensive cables worth it? IMHO, very few things in the audio world is worth it. But niether is a 60K car. When you look at the price of some cables it's hard to justify. I have found in audio that for the most part you get what you pay for up to a certain limit. When I upg... |
