Can speakers sound worse during break-in period?
Yes.
These seem a bit pricey $$$
My takeaway from Guttenberg's review was the Klipsch Heresy IVs walked the dog all over those Credos.  Use the leftover cash on amps and LPs.
How much is "LOUD" still a reference point for some?
With live-recorded acoustic music, an excellent audio system should be able to fool the blinded listener into believing the musician is in the room with them. Amplified music like rock concerts present a lot of sonic variables depending on listeni...
Moving tube equipment
Russian fighter jets didn't work well without their tubes installed while on the move.
what's your opinion on the magazine 'stereo review'??
I subscribed from age 12 to age 16...it was like a gateway drug.  Now I'm strung out on high end.If you're interested in perusing Stereo Review back issues: https://www.americanradiohistory.com/Archive-All-Audio/HiFI-Stereo-Review.htm
Cassettes still rock!
Cassettes may be fine if you are old enough to have loss your high frequency hearing.  The hiss is intolerable, even with dbx.  And they degrade.  Two thumbs down.
Lets talk dedicated lines
If you decide to run a dedicated line for your system, but you aren't ready to go to the lengths of Millercarbon and his step down transformer and cryogenic treatments, you can get a pretty sizable reduction in RFI simply by using 12/3 romex inste...

I like Bob Carver, but not Phase Linear.I like Sony, but not Technics.I like Polk speakers, but not McIntosh speakers.I like Cambridge CD transports, but none others. Is that weird?
Are Bowers and Wilkins speakers overpriced?
Yes they are overpriced. All speakers are. Disagree.  I bought a pair of used 1984 Klipschorns in 2001 from audioclassics.com for $3,000.  Fair price...good deal. I could never had made a pair of speakers that good for the same price in resear...
How to guarantee to lower noise- ground loops in your system
@volumizer, so if using 12/3 instead of 12/2, you would have an extra conductor. This would need to be tied off so it is not connected, correct? I understand the benefit of twisted cables, although I have never heard of anybody doing this.Yes,...
