Concerning high end audio names in new cars
I really had to look twice when I saw the Jeep Grand Wagoneer on a commercial with large blue MacIntosh meters on the dash!    You realize that Grand Wagoneer costs more than a BMW X7, right?
Who are your three favorite female singers?
Nora Jones, Linda Ronstadt, Stevie Nix
What's your favorite boutique speaker maker
Salk for me. Love my HT3's and Center channel and sub. The quality of the drivers, the attention to detail and the furniture grade finishes just make a great all around product. Everyone who sees them comments about how nice they look even before ...
Good Stereo Speakers for outside use during BBQs, evening pot luck dinners etc
I am outdoors almost every weekend either swimming or doing BBQ or both. I have one of the Bose F1 systems and really like it. Has plenty of bass and you can play them as loud as you want and drive them with an iPhone since they are powered. Other...
What player to stream Amazon HD with?
Since my home theater is also my best music system, I can stream it through my Sony TV or through my Roku into my Marantz Pre-amp. Sound is fantastic. I wish they would release an app to my Astell&Kern player like Tidal did for mobile listenin...
Speaker Recommendation: 20K range
A couple of people have mentioned Salk speakers in this thread. I would just add they are some of the more accurate speakers in the world, they use very high quality drivers with custom designed cross overs and Jim Salk makes some of the most beau...
Hard to sell my Klipsch Heritage Speakers for a possible Harbeth upgrade.
Been a Klipsch fan since I bought my first pair of Heresy's back in college in 1978. Fantastic speakers you could drive with just about anything. Kept them until I traded for a pair of Forte's in 1988. Still have those. Also had a great home theat...
Best Rocking Speakers 15K and Under
For $16k you can get a custom made pair of Salk Soundscape 12's. You won't find a better looking (will probably look better than the other furniture in your home) or better sounding speaker (assuming you want accuracy) for under $20k. They will pl...
Speaker recomendation
Hi OP, Hope you are still around. I had a similar space, 30' by 25' open kitchen and family room with a 12' ceiling. I bought a used Salk HT3 right / left / center and 15" Sub for about $6k used and run it with a couple of Crown Class D amps with ...
Looking for speaker suggestions
I have had two sets of Heresy's, have a set of Forte's I bought new in 1990 and have had Cornwall's as well. I now have a set of Salk Sound HT3's and they are just fantastic. If you can get a set used like I did, you can find them for $5k or less....
klipschorns, they kick ass for sure
My 2 cents worth... Been a long time Klipsch fan. Started with a pair of Heresy's in college then moved up to Forte's in the mid 80's. I have also owned Cornwal's. I have never had any of the fully horn loaded versions like the KHorns or the La Sc...
Buying Without Audition
If you buy speakers that have a VERY flat frequency response, good quality drivers, good cross over design in a nice cabinet, you can get away without an audition. Mine are 34 - 20k hz +/- 1.5 db and 29 - 45k +/- 3 db. Hard to go wrong if the resp...
What used speaker would you buy with $20,000-$35,000 and why?
There is a set of KEF Blade Demo's for sale for $19k. Those are pretty good sounding speakers.
$16K new/used speaker question?
Of course for that price, you could also get a custom built set of Salk SoundScape 8's or 10's in just about any veneer you can dream of. You won't find a better sounding speaker under $25k.
SVS or Velodyne
I have a Rythmic 15" in a custom cabinet built by Salk Sound. Great, super tight base that really digs deep. Of course the cabinet is probably a 30" cube made from 1" MDF with enough bracing inside so you can set a turntable on top it and never sk...
