Alternative to VPI motor for Aries 3?
I still cannot believe that these motor can be "DEAD quiet". I mean, come on... there must be some noise when you place your ear NEXT to the motor!?!!I will try to call up VPI tomorrow. And I'll visit the VPI room on RMAF2008 to check if the motor...
Alternative to VPI motor for Aries 3?
09-20-08: Stringreensomething is very wrong. Call VPI for an assessment. I have the motor which is DEAD quiet on my Superscout.DEAD quiet?!?!! What if you place your ear next to the pulley. Do you not hear some high pitch sizzling noise?
EAR 834P + Bent Audio Stepups = greatness?
Eastern Electric MiniMax blows EAR834p out of the water. For the record, I don't own the MiniMax because it is not even good enough for me.
Mint Tractor
09-16-08: Dan_edViper, as Yip would say, if you have only spent 15 minutes adjusting your alignment there is no way it is as good as it can be. Keep trying grasshopper. (OK, the grasshopper part was mine.)Is this a sarcasm? So I should take out my...
Mint Tractor
I finally got the MintLP today! But I am a little disappointed, because I find that my initial setup using the VPI Jig agrees (spot-on) with the MintLP in terms of effective length. I only have to adjust the zenith angle very minorly. It took me l...
Spraying the platter
Markd51, I'm not trying to achieve anything as far as sound is concerned, it's purely for cosmetic purposes. I normally listen to my music in total darkness, I thought it would be cool to spray some invisible UV paint on the platter so that it wil...
Which tube cd player do you like
MrTennis, Thanks for the feedback. I have only listened to ARC CD7 in my system, I think it's strength is that it put the listener at ease with the music, it puts the listener in a very relax mood. It certainly doesn't do all the 'audiophile' thin...
Which tube cd player do you like
Mrtennis, can you comment on the sonic differences between the three CD players you listed? i.e. ARC CD7, Lector 7 and AMR CD77? I gather you must have auditioned all three of them.My gut feel is that the AMR CD77 is the 'warmest' among the three.
Mint Tractor
Stringreen, What is the effective length of your MintTractor Arc? I also have a JMW10.5i arm.thanks
Dodd preamp vs. McCormack RLD-1 preamp
Pubul57, is this Amperex 6dj8 that you have also called "Bugle Boy"??I did try a pair of "Bugle Boy" from Andy Bowman, but I found it a little too warm to my taste, probably because I already have a tube amplifier which is already warm enough. So ...
Is anyone using LAST?
I 'USED' LAST.. but no more. I just got into vinyl less than 4 months ago and LAST was the first cleaning system that I bought. I bought the vinyl cleaner+preservative, and also the stylus cleaner+preservative. But I found that in my system, the t...
Can anyone recommend a Phono Pre Amp?
08-18-08: Mikeyc8Viper when you tested the P75 was it with a Dynavector cart? I understand the the P75 has an "enhanced" mode that works particularly well with their LO Carts. This is a reason why I'm leaning heavily in favour of it for my 20XL ca...

Red Wine Audio Isabella
wow... Mariusz, are you saying that the Isabellina is just as good as the legendary AMR CD-77 from top to bottom?? The AMR-CD77 is a 60lb beast, those engineers at AMR should fire themselves immediately.
Red Wine Audio Isabella
Hi Jwarmbrand and Natewalker2006, may I know what's the rest of your equipments (amp, speaker)??Does the Isabellina DAC have an "airy" top end?
