Unico SE Underwood Level-2 Mods ???? I was thrilled to have the Level 2 Mods when i bought the new Unico 20 years ago. I first saw Sam Tellig's uber enthusiastic standard unit review in Stereophile and then the 6moons mods review. The final and significant upgrade to meet my audio...
Power conditioning for multiple dedicated circuits Caveat Emptor. Walter's Core Power Diamond Xtreme cable 15amp was cheap and useless. He made a wildly hyped-up 90% - 95% performance comparison guess to Nordost's Valhalla 2 power cable. He refused a refund and grasped for store credit less 15...
Onzow ZeroDust reportedly leaves a residue I’ve used Onzow’s cleaner fortunately on an Ortofon Cadenza Black. I’ve usually done this lightly, after playing each side of a record for the past 6 months. Yesterday I used a new Flux Hifi "Flux Sonic" cleaner just once, for the suggested 15 sec...

Paying with a cashiers check? Need advice! NEVER, NEVER, NEVER PAY WITH A CASHIER'S CHECK!!!
Have you had any bad purchase experience(s) been with Audio websites and/or retailers? If it was unclear, despite their lacklustre 'quality control' on what they shipped out the door, Noteworthy Audio (Canada) and Galen Carol (USA) did eventually refund or replace the clearly worn items. Avoidable hassles with a just bit more care.
If Nordost won't shorten & terminate it's own speaker cables who can please? Thank you! Thank you both very much.Funny, I’m currently auditioning a Heimdall main power cord for my system. A very clear improvement to my system’s sound. Impressive in fact. Your suggestion was already on my mind and makes going all Heimdall more temptin...
How do you install a 12" VPI armboard for 12" Unipivot on a VPI Classic 3 - Thanks :-) I have just now added a $150 VPI Dual Pivot Tonearm Adapter to the base of the 12" 3D arm. The net impact of this "upgrade" in my VPI vinyl system - with the Ortofon Quintet Black S - is it clearly sounds better. Yeah! All together, I'd say t...
Anyone Tried Bybee's "Quantum Clarifier"'s Inside Your Speakers? Just "bumping" this thread to see if anyone has used Bybee's "Quantum Clarifier"'s as a DIY internal upgrade to improve their speakers? Thank you in advance.
Leave tube amps always on? Two years ago I asked Kevin Deal, Upscale Audio at the RMAF show (Denver) should you leave an integrated amp on 24/7 or only when needed. His expression and definitive answer was "Only on when you use it!"All my integrated amp's tubes still sound...
Does anyone have experience with seller Kron on cartridges? I bought an Ortofon Quintet Black from Vincent about a month ago. It is my first purchase with him so I used PayPal for the peace of mind. etc. It was a very smooth transaction, prompt communications, fast shipment and I saved a third off the ty...
How do you install a 12" VPI armboard for 12" Unipivot on a VPI Classic 3 - Thanks :-) I am fortunately definitely having a lot of clearly. very improved vinyl fun!! I've also made two other VPI turntable improvements you may wish to consider for yourself :1) Replaced the four VPI Classic feet with Isoacoustic GAIA 2's. GAIA"s come...
How do you install a 12" VPI armboard for 12" Unipivot on a VPI Classic 3 - Thanks :-) PS Sorry I cannot post pictures of my VPI Classic 3 turntable with the upgrade to the 12" 3D tonearm as Audiogon does not allow photos. C;est la vie! :-(
How do you install a 12" VPI armboard for 12" Unipivot on a VPI Classic 3 - Thanks :-) Good point indeed. The platter appeared to spin correctly, and there was no audible impact, despite the spindle's condition. My guess is it happened the first time I re-greased the spindle. When replacing the platter I hit the spindle a bit, ra...
How do you install a 12" VPI armboard for 12" Unipivot on a VPI Classic 3 - Thanks :-) The easy answer was to send the turntable to VPI who were just great, The VPI Tech moved the current arm base and installed a new black arm board under it to attach it and cover over the old 10" arm base holes. I had checked beforehand that they ... |
