Merrill Audio ELEMENT 118 on Tour
What is happening with the 6moons review of the 114?  Srajan seems to be bored.  "To be continued" has been there for a month or so.
I went from Class D to Luxman A/AB - And most of what you think is wrong
jetter,Also, tweak1 likes his Audio Alchemy DPA1 stereo amp, which is class D.  I agree that he may be eagerly anticipating the EVS 1200, but when he gets it his ears will tell the truth.

Viber7,Thanks for your well expressed clarification, particularly how the 118 by itself keeps the guitar and related transient rich instruments sharp and clear, in contrast to the Christine which has a softening effect.  I also like your methodolo...

Viber7,Many thanks for your informative review of the 118, which I found helpful because we have similar values/tastes in music and audio. Mike Fremer in a recent Stereophile found the CH Precision 1.1 to have a touch of warmth but otherwise reaso...
I went from Class D to Luxman A/AB - And most of what you think is wrong
tweak1,The latest TONE Audio review of Van Alstine SET 400 suggests it is somewhat tubey and forgiving.  Since the SET 600 is merely a bridged version of the 400, the sound quality should be similar, although more powerful.  The AVA site also desc...
Just received shipment of my Magnepan LRS’s
thomasj,"Moved them to the inside and both my wife and I feel like there is some giving up of depth and a tad more brightness (paradoxical)."  Also, you find that the LRS are superior to your previous Maggies.  Many years ago, I had the Maggie Tym...
Sound quality vs. volume
wanderingmoo,No, room treatments may help, but you will still find that the sound is clearer and more focused at lower volumes.  Even in my dead room due to clutter, this is the case.  The ear is less sensitive to bass, so it takes higher volumes ...

As a violinist, I think this latest review by Dr. Michael Bump is reasonably informative.  Many audiophiles describe sound in terms of width, depth, decay.  These are all derived characteristics, particularly width and depth which are subjective, ...
Mono Blocks on a Budget, is it possible?
stringreen,Totally agree that a SOTA stereo amp will beat monos with inferior technology for absolute performance.  Since ricevs is advocating for best sound per dollar, we are looking forward to stereo amps with Purifi modules.  The corresponding...

ricevs,I'm with you.  I posted on your latest comment at the very bottom, page 2.
Mono Blocks on a Budget, is it possible?
ricevs,I’m with you all the way about how the best amp shouldn’t cost much. Maybe you can purchase the AVA monos, tell us how they really sound compared to your reference amps and your own product. Then do your tweaks on the AVA and tell us the re...
theta prometheus vs veritas monoblock
Thanks for your informative observations.  So it seems that the Veritas became more laid back after break in, compared to initially.  Correct?

mattnshilp,  I sent you a message.

Thanks, Merrill.  Can any of the Element amps be used with any preamp of your own choosing?  I don't like the wideband design of Spectral which requires using a Spectral preamp.       Does the 114 double again to 1600 watts into 1 ohm?  Put anothe...
Merrill Audio ELEMENT 118 on Tour
mattnshilp--if you experience live sounds of nature like rustling of leaves, natural percussion like hammers and buzzsaws, birds and the bees, as well as live music in open air free of hall wall and carpet colorations, you realize that the euphoni...
