Looking for Polarity Invert Feature... Can someome explain why one would need phase inversion? I still don't understand....I assume that it will invert both the L and R channels. So why is it useful?
Looking for Polarity Invert Feature... What does polarity inversion do to the sound? I have a Chesky test CD that contains a phase inversion track. I cannot hear any differences? What am I missing?
6922 Recommendation for my BAT VK-3iX Preamp I'd like to hear more texture and harmonics in the midrange. A friend brought his highly modified tube preamp over and played it in my system. There was more magic in the mid range with his preamp. But it lacked dynamics and extensions....
VH Audio Vcaps I told Chris at VH Audio that the V in Vcaps stands for reVealing. It reveals any issue your system has. They are amazing caps. I put them on my Counterpoint NP100 Platinum too.
VH Audio Vcaps Sns,Did you break in these Vcaps before you put them in your phono stage? I put a pair of Vcap TFTFs in my 300B SET amp last year. The first 200 hours were simply horrible. It was much worse than before. After 400 hours, it became much better. Grea...
Anyone using two McIntosh 275's in bridged mono? Let me know what you find out. I have a pair of JM Lab Alto Utopia too. Thanks.
How much power is to much power? Baroque_lover,Thanks for sharing your speaker info. I used to have a pair of Accoustic Zen Adagio speakers which are similar to yours. My 50Wpc KT88 monoblocks drove them with ease. The much larger woofers in my JM Lab Alto Utopia need more current...
How much power is to much power? I thought Magfan's test validated my view. LOLA shorted woofer is like an amp with extra high DF. It does not make sound because there is no force continuously driving it. That is control!Try to put a 4ohm resistor with high wattage rating in seri...
How much power is to much power? Yes, some bloom in the bass is nice. I've found live music has "bloom" too. The question is not if you need added bloom. Rather, if your amp had some bloom, would that sound more like live music to your ears? The Lavardin amp can indeed sound like ...
How much power is to much power? What does "effective damping" mean then? :-)I think what you are referring to is not damping. Rather, it is the sheer power.I have 4 amps in the house, from 8Wpc 300B SET to 200/400Wpc into 8/4ohm load all SS power amp. The damping factor ranges f...
How much power is to much power? What does "more control of bass" mean? If you meant sufficient current to drive the bass woofers without more distortion, then it is equivalent to a higher SPL. If you meant a higher damping factor, then it is independent to the wattage anyway.I h...
Balanced or Unbalanced? I understand the benefit of reduced noise floor from balanced systems. My system is also more dynamic when I configure it as fully balanced. However, the gains cannot be 100% identical between the two sets of amplification. Won't that have any impa...
Supratek Preamp. and 6SN7's impressions Which RCA, Sylvania, and Tung-Sol 6SN7s did you use? Take RCA as an example. Did you use clear glass 6SN7GTB or smoke glass 6SN7GT or VT-231?
fuses - the $39 ones or the 85 cent ones Agreed with Rodman. My Counterpoint NP100 uses 5 fuses, 1 for AC and 4 for rails. The sonic improvement from these Hi-Fi Tuning fuses is substantial. I can't remember anything close to $200 that has yielded this much improvement.
fuses - the $39 ones or the 85 cent ones Magfan, not to pick on you again. But ISO does not guarantee that a fuse will work like a fuse. It is a process certification, not a product certification. |
