Speaker Cables : Moderate priced
@chrisr  Yes for sure. The Canare line is also available at BJC if I remember correctly.
Speaker Cables : Moderate priced
Blue Jeans Cables for low money. Iconoclast for mid level money. Both are bargains in their price range.
Did your system getting better the more money you spent or more experience you gained?
Up to a point both are accurate. Budget for what you can afford and you will be able to find something in that range that will make you happy. Speakers should be the biggest part of the budget. Speaker quality and placement are most important IMHO.
can subwoofers make things worse?
SVS Micro. I have a pair of them mated to a set of LS50's and it's a perfect match.

I have a set of the GAG's and can vouch for their musical presentation. Very easy to listen to for long periods of time.

Happiness is the end goal. Nicely done!
Anyone has a reference system where amplification is SS ?
@ re-lar-kvothe   Perfect answer. We all have reference systems. We refer to them to make judgement hence the name.
XLR recomendation
BAV or Iconoclast.
Blue Jeans Cable Iconoclast
They are selling power cables under the Belden / BAV line at the request of customers like me. The wire geometry used has been explained and the connectors are top quality. The power cables are high quality and worth the asking price IMO. I beli...
Sansui?

Speaker Cable Recommendation
Iconoclast are the best bargain for the price and get completely out of the way. And they have a 30 day money back if you dont like them.
Spec-chart for digital cables
I would refer you to Blue Jean and Belden WEB sites.  Not only do they have specs, but they are real and tested to them.  Agree with @tvrgeek 100%. Great products and people. Hard to go wrong with anything Belden / Blue Jeans / Iconoclast makes.
Really Long XLR
Another really high quality and very good sounding XLR is Belden's BAV line. They have the same basic tech. as the Iconoclast series but a lot less money and are much more flexible. I have used a 32' long set running between preamp and power amp w...
