Pre with Pass-Thru for HT Processor
Cool deal. Thanks Dbw1. Will certainly look into it.
Pre with Pass-Thru for HT Processor
Hi all, thanks for your input... Sdcampbell, I'm not sure I would want power amp inputs in back. Did you mean outputs?Basically, I’d like to take the outputs for the two front channels, coming from the processor to the amp, and insert the pre. If ...
Compare Proceed PRE & PAV
Hpshps...I don't see why not. The fact that Proceed is, in essence, simply being re-badged as Mark Levinson doesn't detract at all from the fact that the Proceeds out there are an elite line of components. Quite the contrary. It simply confirms th...
Bi-Amp Power Rating
Hi all. Honestly, I guess my question stems purely out of curiosity. I understand that bi-amping and bi-wiring are not the same thing. But, to bi-amp speakers, would they not need to bi-wireable? Anyhow, I had come across a set of dual bi-wire spe...
AV Racks. What difference does it make?
Also keep in mind that while 1's and 0's may not get rattled off the circuit board as you jested above, unwanted vibrations can increase the number of 1's and 0's that are missed, or inaccurately read, either by a transport's laser, or a DAC's pro...
Does bewiring decrease "wholeness" ?
Sounds like the sales guy doesn't know what he's talking about. Seek a second opinion, as everything I have ever read and experienced is contrary to what you were advised.
Quality Preamp's with HT-Pass Thru capability?
I know this may be a dumb question, but I'm very interested in finding out how what's being discussed here would be done - I, too, am interested in creating a quality HT/Music system... In short, would the quality pre, discussed above, pass-thru a...
Which is better? AES/EBU or coaxial?
There will always be those who will argue one way or another... but, generally speaking, balanced (AES/EBU) will, more often than not, sound better.
Should cinema be our HT reference?
Out of curiosity, where is everyone located? The reason I ask is that I'm in Los Angeles and I must say that the sound quality at some of the top theaters in town is outstanding. I'm wondering if this has more to do with the fact that I'm essentia...
PayPal Surcharge
I've noticed that, on Ebay, this restriction has always been more strictly monitored. My guess is that, in the end, this restriction is really geared more for those whom have made it a business to sell online, rather than for those of us simply se...
6.1 with 5.1 movies?
My guess is that it can probably be either, depending on your setting. If I'm not mistaken, Gladiator is both 6.1 and 5.1. Get that, then you could compare.H
Optical v. Coax digital audio cables
I agree with Jsawhitlock. If you can do balanced, that's your choice. Otherwise, Coax is your choice... less conversions, etc... (this has been covered extensively in recent threads). But let's face it... 10 feet is not a desirable length.
Preamp Power Supplies Inboard/Outboard
Although care has been taken to shield the rest of the components within the chassis from interference, there will always be some influence, however small. And, as Gregm mentioned above, there can be space issues... Bigger, better, more robust PS'...
Sub In The Fireplace
Hi Flex, sorry I neglected to mention my speakers. My mains are an older pair of full range B&W DM3000. They are not ported. The sub, as I had mentioned, is a Velodyne HGS18 II, which is also not ported.Rives,I like your idea of creative a ver...
Sub In The Fireplace
Thanks for the responses... Rives, I guess I should have been more specific. But, yes, the fireplace is actual brick, and sits on the same foundation as the rest of the house which is a concrete slab. As far as the leveling jacks... are you sugges...
