What was your first big eye opener with regard to audio?
Oh, and that GEM Dandy rubber cork compound turntable mat I got for 15% off wasn't a bad upgrade either! blindjim - That's one heck of a moniker!
What was your first big eye opener with regard to audio?
Finding out, if you don’t have a lot of money to spend many thousands of dollars on hardware separates you can still get good sound - with modifications of what modest system you already have. But don’t get it twisted! It adds up pretty damn quick...
Reasonable high end interconnects: without breaking the bank
With my latest interconnect upgrade I have come to enjoy the price point and quality of sound in both the KLEI™Absolute Harmony Plugs and shielded Duelund DCA20GA interconnects from my turntable (yes I’m a crate digger) to the tube phono preamp wi...

Looking for great jazz guitar recordings - any recommendations?
+1 On Wes Montgomery and George Benson. Especially the recordings produced by Creed Taylor of CTI with them being engineered and recorded by Rudy Van Gelder. The sound quality of a Rudy Van Gelder engineered album is some of the sweetest music I h...
Turntable Mat question
I replaced my stock Technics SL-D2 turntable mat with a GEM Dandy rubber cork compound mat and enjoy the quietness it brought to my ’daily driver’ very much. It’s also not to expensive at $60 and they always go on sale for less. And be aware that ...
Increasing gain for your vinyl front end when pre-amp doesn't quite have enough juice

@millercarbonThe Bee Gees were far better lyricists or should I say song writers period than a whole lot of groups regardless of genre. They wrote songs like ’I started a joke’ (which I think you can relate to) and many others that were covered by...
Disco...yep, I'm going there
I really did like groups like BT Express, Chic and the Bee Gee's especially because they were good writers of song and music. But in the seventies I was mostly into some good ole funk like p-funk and George Duke and for the life of me, at the time...
What's your go-to cheapie cartridge?
I took a chance and bought a used Shure V15VxMR MM cartridge for 220 CAN which ended up being $150 bucks US hoping nothing was wrong with it as they normally go for $500 and installed a JICO SAS VN5xMR stylus and to my surprise it worked just fine...

Which band IS really America's Greatest (rock & roll band)?
Speaking of rock and roll, Mother’s Finest with that Southern rock aint bad either. And the band was really from the south, not like CCR who played a heap of blues but was from Frisco. Although I have to admit, more classic rock, funk, soul, blues...
Cost of Shipping Records
Well I took a que from you good brothers and sisters here and did some internet record shopping for exactly what I want rather than just crate digging and actually found and online record shop that does not charge for shipping after a $20 or more ...
Cost of Shipping Records
Man! Now, I’m glad the only thing I can afford in vinyl is used albums by crate digging...
