Does it / Do they pass the wife test? Speakers
It depends what your wife likes. If she likes nice hardwoods, find a good speaker with a really nice cabinet in her wood of choice. Try to minimize black screen cloth. My latest speaker selection, Meadowlark Ospreys, was okay with my wife because ...
Who was Peg?
The link was interesting but obviously there is more information available. I base my response mostly on the link'sinterview's one sentence about "My Old School". Do a Google search on "My Old School" and Steely Dan and you'll find a bunch of stuf...
Best Tweaks.....
1- Neuance platforms2- Quality powercords. I'm only using Shunyata Diamondbacks and Copperheads, far from the most expensive, and still the improvement was stunning!3- Balanced power supply for CDP and turntable. Keep them on separate filtered out...
Meadowlark Ospreys II ? Low Feq. Response?
95% of my listening is rock, the rest is jazz and I'm very pleased with my Ospreys. Its true if you are looking for the very highest volume level that they are probably not the right speakers. But they put out enough, even in a large room. Respons...
Turntables New vs Used
Ferrari et al,I'm in favor of anything that increases the number of satisfied vinyl users. However, I certainly wouldn't want to see people try it and leave due to poor sound. The increased set-up and maintenance requirements (vinyl vs. CD) are en...
Benz LP vs. Dynavector XV-1s
Johnny,Are you familiar with the Helikon? How do the Benz LP and the Dynavector XV-1 compare? The Helikon, Benz LP and Benz Ruby 3 are on my short-list for next cartridge upgrade. Thanks!Terry
Meadowlark Ospreys with McIntosh/Odyssey
I've had Ospreys for a year with a Plinius 9200 and they sound great IMHO. I think it depends on what SS electronics you use with them.
Some Guidance Please
I went from the Paradigm Studio 60v2 to the Meadowlark Ospreys a year ago. I've got a Plinius 9200 driving them. They are great speakers! You'd be really pleased compared to the Paradigms. Be aware that Ospreys require a long burn-in to sound thei...
Pass X150 or CJ MF 2500,,,
Ray, that's great! I just rechecked this thread, let us know what you think of the CJ.
Using Mikro-Smooth w/o Scratching
I gave up Mikro-Smooth after using it on about seven or eight CDs due to the scratching problem. Since it was new, the pads were also new. Two of the CDs were scratched, one pretty bad although I'd technically still call them 'light surface scratc...
Sumiko Fluxbuster: How do I use this crazy thing?
Recently with my Fluxbuster, the length of the cycle did appear to vary with the (longer than normal) length of time since I last used it. Now I'm curious, I'll start timing it and see if the length of the cycle really does vary.Terry
Pass X150 or CJ MF 2500,,,
Check out Spearit Sound (they're on the 'net). They have a demo CJ MF2500A with full warranty in your price range. I think they also have some with blems on the heatsink that you may want to consider as well.
Meadowlark Ospreys II ? Low Feq. Response?
My Ospreys really opened up in the 180 to 200 hour range and I heard improvements up to about 500 hours.
I Need Some "Modern Groove" Jazz Suggestions
Try the following: Mindi Abair "It Just Happens That Way", Fishbelly Black "Crusader", Bona Fide "Royal Function" or "The Poe House".Which Four 80 East album did you hear? I really like all three of their albums but they are clearly not everyone's...
Has the Plinius 9200 been reviewed?
I've owned a Plinius 9200 for a year and leave it powered up 24x7 and strongly recommend doing that for best sonics as Simple says above.I'm extremely pleased with the sound of the Plinius 9200. Be aware that it does have a long run in (burn in) f...
