$800 Cartridge Shootout and Upgrade Path
Oakiris, Audiocubes is the only one that I know of with the DL103R right now. It is really worth the extra money over the regular DL103. I found the regular DL103 to be a bit coarse in the top end, and didn't track as well as the DL103R. The DL103...
$800 Cartridge Shootout and Upgrade Path
Oakiris, a "cheap and cheerful" setup for that rig could easily be a Denon DL103R and a HiFi tonearm mod. That is a really nice combination on the Teres/OL Silver rig, and I have used it myself for almost a year before moving to my present Shelter...
What happened to Loth-X?
Bemoptil123, I would say that my winged Voigt Pipes with the newer Lowther EX3 have some colorations, to be sure. I don't think there is a speaker made that isn't colored to some extent. However, there are differences in the colorations in speakers...
naim + bookshelf speaker recommendation
I liked the Linn Kans with my old Naim system. They work up against the wall very well, in fact they were designed to be against the wall.Small, out of the way, and really nice sound.
What happened to Loth-X?
I have no idea, but I've always thought that their single driver stuff was very intriguing, and their Silbatone preamp was really something special.
Single vs Multiple driver loudspeakers...
Okay, I suppose we just have drastically divergent listening needs.Regarding some of your other points, the Lowther isn't really designed for front horn loading, and nearly all of the cabinet designs for Lowthers have rear loading of one kind or a...
tube amps SET,psuh pull ,hi power whats better ?
While there are distinct differences in the topologies of these amplifiers, the actual execution of the design is very important to the result. It is very hard to say that a SET will be better than a push-pull, unless you have some indication that ...
OK, I made the leap...
Sounds to me like the VTA is pretty far off on that table you have, but maybe there are other things going on that I don't know about.Anyway, there are a variety of tables, arms, and cartridges out there, and it can be confusing.I'd recommend read...
Single vs Multiple driver loudspeakers...
I was just on the Lowther America website, and they have the new Pass stuff on there. One thing that interested me was a quote from Nelson Pass, saying,"This is the best speaker that I've ever heard".Now if you ask me, I'd say that when respected S...
4 ohm 8 ohm
I don't think that is a good idea.Use the 4 ohm tap.
Teres Turntable Support - concrete, wood, rack...?
Doug, you crack me up!No yelling coming from here.
Teres Turntable Support - concrete, wood, rack...?
Dave(Salectric), my experiences with some of the materials you mention are exactly the same.
Teres Turntable Support - concrete, wood, rack...?
Oakiris, the supporting legs of the Sistrum TT platform, and other Sistrum multi-shelf platforms, can be filled with our proprietary MicroBearing fill, which enhances the performance of the stand. This is an upgrade, and we also have some other up...
Teres Turntable Support - concrete, wood, rack...?
For "normal" technology, the rigid high-mass platforms such as stone blocks have been typical bases for the Teres tables. The high mass base is a vibration sink, which is a good thing for the unsuspended turntables. If you come to the CES show, you...
Agon Members at CES
I'll be in the Starsound room at the St. Tropez, Room 1609.I'll probably also be part-time in the Teres Audio/Red Rock Audio room, and also the Tyler Acoustics room. We'll have some of our stuff in those rooms too, as well as a few other rooms.I a...
