Wyetech, thoughts comments on amp.
The David Berning ZH270 should be on your list. It has plenty of guts, is zero-hysteresis OTL, will drive lower impedences well without an impededance matcher(transformer) like the Atma-Sphere. Sounds great, and will save you a bundle of cash. The...
Volume Control?
Goldpoint also makes excellent stepped attenuator units.
What percentage do you spend on each component?
I did not pre-calculate a budget, but here is what I've got:TT/arm/cart - 31%(DIY kit)CD player - 13%preamp - 15%(heavily DIY modded)amp - 25%speakers - 14%(DIY)cables - 1% DIY)room treatments - 1% (DIY)Obviously, I am heavy into the front end, wh...
Is it worth it to buy the Cable Cooker?
Hey Paulwp. I just checked your threads in the archives, and you are the only other person I know of that has heard of the Armstrong receiver. On your "Best Product for the money ever" thread, you mentioned the Armstrong and the Connoisseur TT. I ...

We don't really have to do that Joe. Origin Live has already done that for us. The Silver Tonearm and the Rega mods are great for all of us that want great products at a reasonable cost.
A better matched amp for my Totem Speakers?
What is your price range? New or used?

If you want good sound for the money, check out the Meadowlark line. The new Swifts are running hot competition for the highly regarded Kestrel Hot Rods that many Audiogoners have liked. The Swifts are only $995 a pair. They are alot like a Voigt ...

I prefer the OL method of coupling the end stub to the arm. This coupling method actually causes a tuned de-coupling of the vibrations which may excite the end stub and counterweight. By doing this, the overall amplitude of the vibrations is lesse...

Craig, you're giving away all my secrets! By the way, you really need to build a set of these. They are awesome. And that "comb filter" thing is way, way overstated. Walking bass lines are no problem, amigo. I have no urge to make other cabinets a...

No, I haven't listened to the new 1000 yet. I expect it would be a very good arm. From what I can see of it on the website, it appears to continue the Rega practice of refinements on the RB300 theme. It still has the spring VTF adjuster. All of th...

I would ask you, did you hear an improvement when you added the front end changes? If so, then they are not "wasted". Are they? So much for the opinion given you by the speaker zealot. I have regularly had systems where the speaker was the least e...

The reason that you don't need to do the mods on the RB 600,900,1000 is that you can get the OL Silver Tonearm for $750, that will be a way better arm than any of the Regas, before or after modification. Why buy an arm that costs more and won't do...
Queen any one ???
I like the "Sheer Heart Attack" album. That is all that really ever interested me from them.

Okay, here we go. You have to get the Origin Live or Expressimo Audio structural mod. It replaces the rear stub, with a better one that is coupled differently. This is the biggest single thing you can do to your arm. Then get the HeavyWeight count...
