Strange Tonearm Tweak. Long
Just to make an announcement, this mod now has an official name. It is called the HI-FI(Horizontal Inertial Force Increaser). Assuming a positive response from Basement, I will begin to look into a market for these products.
Criminy, I've reached 300 threads
My count is currently 647, since March 2002. But I have less than half of some others.
Strange Tonearm Tweak. Long
Zaikesman, the articulated arm you referred to was the Garrard Zero-100 Zero Tracking Error system. I had one of those in the early 70's. The main problems were cheap construction and implementation. The system itself could work with modern materi...
Strange Tonearm Tweak. Long
Nate, I'm very happy the mod was effective for your application. This lets me know that the mod is applicable for different compliance ranges, and that is good. My initial assessment of your results compared with mine, is that your compliance is h...
20th Anniversary of CD Today
Yes, a truly dark day in history, it was.
Strange Tonearm Tweak. Long
That is an interesting concept Zaikesman. I would attack that in a high rigidity approach. Possibly like a wishbone suspension arm made of carbon fiber and wide spacing at the pivot area, and coming to a "V" at the forward area, where the bearing ...
What isolation used between shelves and Turntable?
Jim, that sounds like a good system to me.
Vinyl distortion - What's the problem?
One other thing you might check, is to see if your stylus cantilever is bent. You can check this by looking at it directly from the front when it is on the arm rest. It it does not look like it is centered, then it could be bent. This would requir...
Vinyl distortion - What's the problem?
Sounds like you need to check your cartridge alignment, and your anti-skating setting, and perhaps the azimuth. We don't know what TT or tonearm you have, so it's hard to speculate any further than that.
Review: KAB SL-1200 Fluid Damper Tweak
Zaikesman, I would suggest trying different levels of fluid in the trough, and different angles on the paddle. This system seems as though it can be "tuned", and you may find an "ideal" setting for your particular needs by doing this. I know that ...
Tonearm/cartridge sugestions for an Oracle Delphi?
The OL Silver Tonearm is the best price/performance tonearm in audio today. If you get that at around $750, you won't be sorry. Look at www.originlive.com for all the dope on the Silver and their mods for the Rega arms. They also have some even hi...
Acapella ion tweeters
I remember reading somewhere that they were, at least at one time, avalailable separately. I think that the price was about $10k for the pair of tweeters.
What isolation used between shelves and Turntable?
Timwat, it has been my experience that isolation of a TT does more harm than good. Yes, it may isolate floor borne vibrations if it is done right, but alot of the problems are also airborne vibrations, so you are not eliminating vibrations even wi...
Tonearm/cartridge sugestions for an Oracle Delphi?
Your cartridges, if not worn out, are too old now to expect them to be at their best. Assuming proper care, the arms should be fine. The Grace is a low mass design, which also lacks rigidity, due to the slim arm tube. It should be paired with a med...
Arm suggestions for my Basis 1400
Viridian, no, I haven't heard the new RB1000 yet. However, on the Rega website, it states that it is simply another refinement of the RB300 design, with better bearings and more hands-on adjustment and quality control. I think that this would cont...
