Law Of Diminishing Returns?
Agree with most above. I built what I call a mid-fi room with a $15,000 budget (and was able to buybthriugh a local dealer at about 60% of internet retail which I think is normal). Since that point my top end budget has changed. But I really hav...
OMG Moment
I have the reverse issue in my room.  My couch is deep and slouchy.  When my head is 2 feet lower my bass gets a little muddy on some recordings. Sit up tall and its crisp and clean.   I have started toying with raising the back of the speaker t...
Name 3 songs where audio quality and song quality completely align
I agree with the early Pink Floyd comments in all regards. Maybe not the audience here...but I just bought Nevermind on Vinyl new pressing.  It's front to back stellar SQ and songwriting. And finally, going Bowie.  The level of detail he put int...
New Outlets Lead to Better Sounding and Tasting Coffee
I love this post.
Tube amps - what 3 things…
I think there are great answers here.  OP don't be intimidated.  I have two tube amps now.  My main system is a PL Evo 400.  Nothing but good things to say about this AMP.  My second is a 'vintage' Grant Fidelity Rita - in my office and more of a ...

Which would you choose for good sounding tube preamp for an audiophile new to tubes.
In same scenario, I went with a Prima Luna Evo 400 integrated and have been 110% happy with that choice. But I think you are going to be thrilled with whatever you buy.  There are few wrong choices.
Unfinished basement listening room
Some of the best advice i got was to put my system in the basement. Love to hear about your unorthodox room treatments. I use Yogibo bean bags as my bass traps...
amp recommendation for Evoke 20s
I have evoke 50s with a Prima Luna 400 integrated.  I bought it new at a local dealer for well under the retail prices you see on the internet. I consider myself a realist audiophile.  I have heard some very expensive systems in perfectly set up ...
What Is So Special About Harbeth?
I spent a lot of time, with a lot of input here for a small office system. Need speakers to go an actual bookshelf.  Wanted warm and not fatiguing. Like others, thought the Harbeths were kind of ugly.  Especially the HL. Went with the P3 ESR.  ...
Efficient speaker: Zu, Tekton, Volti, Klipsch, Fleetwood?
Vladtheimapler I read a little book about you.  Are you a great Dad?
What Monitors would you pick for my new office (bookshelf) >>
Closing this off in the event someone else reads it. The Harbeth P3ESR were a great choice.  They make me smile.  I find the vocal/midrange exceedling pleasant.  Bass at low-levels is warm - it fills the room  the way I wanted at day time listeni...
Science that explains why we hear differences in cables?
I asked God this same question yesterday.  we had a bad connection, cheap cables, so I couldn't fully hear the answer.
