Teres 340, anyone heard / seen one in the flesh
Cello--You are probably going to be mobbed with requests for information, since you are (so far as I can tell) the first person anywhere on the net to even hint that they might have access to one. I'm dying to hear your impressions.
Calling all indie rockers...
I'm so glad you all are here. The next person who mentions Dianna Krall to me will be limping home. On an indie note, I'm really enjoying the Shins right now. I just got the Microphones--the Glow Pt. 2, and it's awesome. My favorite recent indie p...
Trelja and friends in New York, 2004
How dare you drop a teaser like that! You can't just tell a bunch of rabid audiophiles that there's going to be a less expensive walker available and then walk away. Why don't you just shout "fire" in a crowded theater?
Srangest ,most out there sounding music
The great thing about Esquivel is that whenever you put it on, and whatever you're doing, it suddenly becomes "martini time at the bachelor pad." Try it.
Album which you have listened to most?
2) Exile in Guyville By Liz Phair This record is an addiction.3) Velvet Underground--The Velvet underground. I first heard his when I met my girl. We were 16 and we still play this together, 14 years later.
Music for "Tough Times"
really anything by Elliott Smith.
Greatest rhythm sections
I forgot to mention it, but I think the first response had it right. The Stax/Volt/Atlantic work by Booker T. and the M.G.s is unbeatable.
Greatest rhythm sections
What about Paul Simonan and Topper Headon from the clash? How about Mingus' bands with Danny Richmond on drums and either Horace Parlan or Jaki Byard on piano?Of current bands, we need to include Praxis--Bill Laswell and Bootsy Collins on basses a...
Is there a fully balanced 6sn7 preamp?
Gunbei,As far as amps go, I'm not sure yet. I just like the sound of the 6sn7, and I'd like to hear what it could do in a fully balanced configuration. Do you prefer the bc 21 with 6sn7s to the 6299 equipped bc 21.1, or are you thinking about upgr...
New Releases on Vinyl?
What kinds of music do you listen to?
would you bother?
Just my 2 cents--It really depends on what you listen to. For example, I listen to quite a bit of indie rock, and yesterday I bought:1) Cat Power--You Are Free (Matador, 2003, 150g), and2)The Shins--Chutes Too Narrow (Sub Pop, 2003) Each cost me $...
Battle of three amps
This may sound a bit crazy, but consider the deHavilland gm70 or 845G. While these aren't powerful amps by rating, Roger Gordon on Positive feedback online reviewed the 845G (and bought a pair) based on their performance with his VMPS RM 30s. Just...
Decent receiver w/an alarm function?
I nearly slept through a final on Linear Spaces once too, but instead I went to the final, came home, curled up in the fetal position, an realized that if I'd stayed an English major I could have been plaing frisbee opn the Quad instead of studyin...
Who Was Your Favorite One Hit Wonder
"The Biggest Fool In Town" by Gorgeous George. In retrospect, I don't think he was a one hit wonder, as I don't think this was ever a hit. It was, however, his only record, and a great song. How about "Fever" by Little Willie John?
Underestimated, song, artist or group '' gems'' ?
Influential bands that don't get enough credit:1) X (post-punk harmony started here, for better or for worse)2) PIL (especially their first two records)3) Husker Du (No Husker Du= No Pixies = No Nirvana, plus guitarists all over the world owe Bob ...
