If you can raise your budget just a hair, you really should checkout the Vapor Audio Cirrus.
Bel Canto Ref 1000MK2 or Wyred SX1000MK2
Not MkII's, but I had a pair of Bel 1000 Mk1's and compared side by side - same system, same room - with a D Sonic M1000S for over 2 weeks, and there was no difference that I could detect. As soon as I'd think I heard something different, I had my...
VALVET Amps & Pre: any feedback from Audiogoners?
I'm seriously considering buying a pair of these, but am wondering just how much current these can possibly deliver when they're so physically small and only 20 pounds? It is a class-A amp, so how can it be 'powerful' when it obviously has a small...
Anyone hear BPT Cirrus at RMAF 2008?
Well Rja, it doesn't work that way you know. Extension doesn't equal brightness. Imbalance is what equals brightness. And the FR is within 1.5db throughout the audible band. The bass is I think well balanced, the Cirrus sounds very close to "full ...
Anyone hear BPT Cirrus at RMAF 2008?
^^^ Haha, I didn't post thatRja, the Teflon V-Caps definately have a long break-in period where they'll change character noticable. I think some people are a bit excessive in saying hundreds of hours, I think it's more like 40-50 hours with the Te...
Anyone hear BPT Cirrus at RMAF 2008?
Use of the amorphous core in the RAAL tweeter takes micro-dynamics up a notch. It's akin to lowering the noise floor, you'll get a bit better center image focus and better definition of tiny detail. Even with the standard core the RAAL might have ...

Hey guys, I'm the builder of BPT's loudspeakers. I'll save my opinions of them :) But if you have any questions I'd be happy to answer them.Cheers, Ryan
Any thoughts on Volent Speakers ?
I've only heard the VL-2's, but would have to say they're a poor choice based on your criteria. From my listening they would definately be categorized as analytical, and certainly not forgiving.
What is your favorite material for loudspeakers?
MDF is a pretty poor material for the application if performance is your criteria. It's popular because it's cheap and relatively easy to work with. With ply there are factors which determine it's performance, both the resin and layers used are cr...
High End Monitors
Hey Teeshot, are Direct brands with a money back option something you'd consider? If so I'd humbly suggest the BPT Cirrus - http://www.b-p-t.com/speakers.htmlI have to qualify, I'm the person who builds them. They were incredibly well received at ...
Report from Rocky Mountain AudioFest
Hey Duke, thanks again for coming down to listen to my creation ... and thanks for the kind words. The dynamics especially have spoiled me already. I've never had anything this dynamic, it's addictive! We don't have a name yet, but they'll be sold ...
Report from Rocky Mountain AudioFest
Did anyone here happen to listen to my prototypes in the BPT room - 9014? You'd remember if you did, the only red speakers at the whole show :-) If so, I'd love feedback ... good or bad. I only heard good from people I talked to, maybe everyone wa...
Upgrading crossover?
When upgrading the crossover, the first ones to do are the series caps (caps that cross between + and -). The series caps are under more stress than the parallel caps, and have more impact on the overall performance. I've been using the ClarityCap...
Stupid question about power cables ...
Takefive says that by connecting the ground at the male end it acts as a drain shield ... it may help block some RMI, may not, but that it can't hurt.
