looking for ideas on must have classical music
I agree with Sprigreen andd Frogman, take up a music appreciation class. Good for you that you took up keyboard, I did the same at age 54, bought an ole Kimball upright and several years later a 1926 Chickering Grand, rebuilt it and found a great ...
Thoughts on a new tube amp for high end rig? The last piece!
I can’t imagine anything close to or above their price significantly bettering Quicksilver, I certainly haven't heard it. Superb value and top shelf performance, it has to be in the transformer design. As to which model would be better in your spe...
This is a brilliant interview of Keith
Fun watch shadorne. Coincidentally I just saw this thread after just listening to a clear vinyl remastering (Bob Ludwig) of "Beggars Banquet" recommended on another Stones thread, excellent btw. I always appreciated Keith for his musical passion o...

Do any of your Rolling Stones recordings bring "Satisfaction"?
Got the Hot Rocks on both vinyl and CD. I used to be as you, not happy with my Stones recordings. So the issue, as I've discovered in my particular situation  is not necessarily the quality of the recording but whether or not the system communicat...
Vinyl***What If***
Another + to Bill. While not as committed as you Bill your last sentence sums it up nicely for those that grew up with records and love analog sound.  I like the sailboat analogy as well, latch on to a vinyl freak and bang the drum slowly, no need...
Full Range under $5k-ish
At new and based on your less than 5k budget I would strongly consider and recommend  you listen to Vandersteen. There is a reason the model 2 have been so popular for 40 + years. Maybe they won't fit what you are looking for but ANY recommendatio...
Amps from the 1980's -- What gear holds up sonically? Reliably?
Kind of like comparing oranges, a good one can taste fine until you have a great one, tasty and juicy, one just picked off the tree.
Do you listen to equipment or music.
You're listening to music when it's right, equipment when it's not. Getting to the "right" is the journey.
Highest BUILD quality tube amps?
+1 Audio Connection. In my many years in this hobby and with respect to many of the very fine products mentioned in this thread,  Quicksilver audio is among the best values I can think of. A no brainer choice matched to the proper speaker load.
Highest BUILD quality tube amps?
Agree with bdp24, bad idea to install tube sockets on a circuit board and with Ralph, hardwired, less circuit boards are best EXCEPT in the case of David Berning designs in both cases. I owned a ZH270 for 13 years and never had to change a tube le...
Berning ZH270 Upgrades
David is generally very responsive and easy to reach. I'd try again or better yet give him a call. He is a very nice man and easy to talk to.
Whats the FATTEST sounding Tube amp to warm up Lean speakers?
Hey Joneil, thanks for that update! As from others as well, the Music Reference are next on my on my radar if ever again the itch rears it’s head. Love my Quicksilvers for now and possibly ever as it seems you are with your RM9s, ain’t life grand!...
Audiogon member suggestions for a speaker that sounds good at low volume!!!
Quad, Tannoy and Ref 3a Decapo, all have great low level resolution. I’m sure there are others examples outside my experience but something to keep in mind in considering your options, the fewer obstructions in the signal path the more articulate ...
Replace CJ with new equipment
First off, do you like the presentation of your CJ gear? If so I would strongly recommend upgrading parts and by ALL means replace the tubes with NOS. Andy of Vintage Tube Service is the guy to contact for tubes and is familiar with CJ. Upgrade se...
