JOB, BelCanto, Perpetual, MilleniumDACs?
Subaruguru I wouldn't say you are at all off base with your observations on this unit based on my early first impressions. I would however be interested in knowing the rest of your system. I too found the Bel Canto a little "laid back" in comparis...
what is everybody listening to right now
Jacqueline DuPre Dvorak Cello Concerto on EMI. Just discovering her. Highly recommended.
Top Ten Tube Amps of All Time?
Yeah Joe I am STILL using the D115 Mk2. I love those D series ARC amps; maybe no better push pull amp except possibly the ARC D-79 (a midrange to die for) and the M-100's. The VAC's mentioned above are also superb.
TOP TEN solid state amps of all time?
The best I ever heard is the Threshold SA-1 Class A mono amps
Integrated amp for NEWFORM R645
Hey Doug When are you getting your pair? When you do I would be interested in hearing a report from you.
Anybody remember the MERLIN 4B's
Several months back there were a pair of 4B's for sale on Audiogon so someone out there knows about these speakers. Maybe you're buying from the same individual?
JOB, BelCanto, Perpetual, MilleniumDACs?
Hi Mark No I haven't heard SACD and probably would not comment on it UNLESS I could hear it in MY system. The upsampling units are really the only way to go for me at this time until this whole matter on DVDa and SACD gets sorted out. By most acco...
JOB, BelCanto, Perpetual, MilleniumDACs?
Hi Sam I am currently using a Cardas Lightning coaxial cable. I do plan on trying the toslink with a DVD transport. Have heard it isn't too good on CD transport. Wes Phillips in his review recommends a toslink at least 2 meters, I have time to sor...
JOB, BelCanto, Perpetual, MilleniumDACs?
I recently tried out the P.T. P-3A and while the resolution, bass, noise floor and dynamics were excellent, tonally the unit never came around. Maybe I didn’t wait long enough but I didn’t want to wait any longer than the 2 weeks I gave the unit. ...
Cat Stevens.... Great Artist or Wacko?
Cat Stevens wrote some of the most introspective songs of the 1970's. Along with James Taylor IMO the 2 best male folk artists of that era. His music and lyrics are timeless in that they aren't dated and there is always a freshness when you listen...
Best female vocals on CD
Dekay I normally don't listen much to show music other than some of the stuff I listened to as a kid growing up. I do however like to see shows and my wife and I will go to community theatre and see touring companies of broadway musicals. I have a...
Interconnect integrity question
“The only thing I bring to this site is my opinion. My opinion is worthless without a certain measure of credibility”. Quite possibly the reason that you WERE approached in the 1st place is for the reasons you yourself stated above, it is recogniz...
Best system for ROMANCE
Sound by Singer has just about everything on the list. He DOES by all accounts only sell retail, no discounts with him. So you may have to use your considerable charms to get a deal. I know he has most of Trelja recommendations except maybe the CD...
Best system for ROMANCE
Hey Cindy I suspect there are more beer drinkers among the lot of us judging by a thread titled "BEST BEER...MADE ANYWHERE". I certainly love wine but freely admit I'm no connoisseure. Khrys's system looks real good to me although I am not familia...
