CIAUDIO VDC-9.0 Powering Wadia 170I Transport
It depends on the rest of your system. In some transpartent systems you can hear the difference (and it's worth it), in other systems you can't hear it...
Just got Audible Illusions L1, but it sound harsh
I've been using the AI mod3, 3a, and 3b, for some time now and can honestly say it is very revealing and will force you to upgade everything else to max out its potential. I've been there. Unfortunitly IMHO the SS Rotel needs to replaced with tube...
Wadia owners - what power cords do you suggest?
I was using Revelation Audio's Precept II Cryo-Silver™ Reference A/C Mains cable with my Wadia 830. It made an audible difference.Great product but I can't say the same about the company.Tony
Transporter vs. Squeezebox Touch w/PS AudioDL-III
I’ve only had my touch for a week or so and haven’t connected an external drive (yet). Nevertheless, I am very impressed. Right out of the box, it bettered the dynamics of my Roku Soundbridge, and I love being able to select the stream (if more th...
Preamp suggestions
If you are only using the CD player as your source you may want to consider a passive preamp. They can be had for a fraction of your budget and are easily resold.
tube preamp for mcintosh solid state amp
Before moving away from mac amps I was using an Audible Illusions Mod3a with great results. I had a MC7270, MC352, and a MC402 in the mix at one time or another. The AI worked really well with the Mac's...
Toslink from TV to DAC???
No worries, but some sources will sound louder than others will. I run the cable box, blue-ray player and xbox 360 into the TV using HDMI, from the TV to the DAC using a 20 foot glass toslink cable. No noticeable delay at all.
New audiophile looking for first speakers. HELP
Try finding a used pair of Green Mountain Europa, or the Europa Max (there is pair of the Max's for sale here... no affiliation). They are marble casting, time aligned, front ported, with first order cross-overs. All around a great sounding budget/...
Bryston or McIntosh which would you buy?
Nither.I don’t know the 752, but I have owned the MC7270 (two of them at the same time), MC2255, MC352, and the MC402… The 7270 is a great amp but it is a bit dated, and was bested by the newer MC352 and MC402. That said, I ended up replacing the ...
Amplifiers:A Keeper for Life. Do you know of one ?
My vintage Manley Lab Series Mono 100's won't be going anywhere anytime soon. Fitted with NOS Mullard EL34's the sound is just incredible.
Next upgrade?

cable recommendations
Congrat’s, you have some great gear.Crimson is a little heard of English company with only one or two US distributers, but the cable is first class. They'll blow you away... Turned my Special 25's into a whole new speaker. Great speed, very detail...
TT Weights VPI center clamp
Assuming the OP’s question was legitimate, I can honestly state that the screw down design DOES NOT damage the label (or anything else for that matter) in any way. Remember we are talking about screwing it down by hand...I’ve been using their Bras...
Amp for Dynaudio C1 Mcintosh 402 or Cary CAD 500?
Tubes are not out of the question... I've paired my Special 25"s with a VTL st150 and loved the results. I should mention the VTL displaced a MC402 which I sold for twice the price of the VTL.
aricaudio,mapletree,norh, quicksilver preamps
I'll second the Mapletree, however I must disclose that I have one currently for sale here. I found it to be more musical than the QS with a fuller sound stage. I used both on top of McIntosh amps. The QS with a MC 7270; and the Mapletree with the...
