Anyone listen to Music on a FM tuner anymore?
Does HD Radio qualify as FM? If so, then yes. The Phoenix area has a number of HD Radio stations that provide excellent quality signals. The two to which I listen almost exclusively are a jazz and a classical station, both of which are operated by...
Denver used market?
Is ListenUp on Pearl a viable option? A friend of mine worked for that store several years ago. They were very reputable back then, but I have no idea what their current rep is.
Taylor Swift Concert Prices
Value, like beauty, has always been in the eye of the beholder. For a Taylor Swift fan, a grand or more for a seat at one of her live performances may be acceptable, even if not exactly a bargain. Not being a fan of her music, I wouldn’t pay a gra...
What is the VERY BEST CD album you've ever heard?
1978 Denon release of Archie Shepp and Dollar Brand titled Duet. The cleanest, most revealing recording I've ever heard in any format, regardless of genre. Excellent dynamic range, unmolested transients, superb definition. Play this when you want ...
Fee for home audition
I once worked for a company that offered free weekend equipment loans to good customers, but charged for in-home demos. The charge was a flat fee, not some percentage of the the equipment price, and the fee helped to cover some of the cost for the...
Just wow…
@audiovideonirvana 100% agree that Stern is a flaming petard. Fortunately, his contribution to the clip is minimal, and Aurora has a lovely voice. The arrangement is very nice, as well.
But is it HiFi? (Crown)
I've been using Crown amps off and on in my systems since the days of the old DC-300A. Well built and bullet-proof into just about any load. Many are as audibly transparent as anything else around, so perfectly suitable for use in home systems. O...
Experienced only: What have you done with room correction?
I've used 3 different REQ solutions in my A/V systems:  Dirac Live, Audyssey MultEQ XT32, and ARC Genesis. I consider them all effective, to varying degrees, with respect to reducing room colorations and providing a more convincing audio experienc...
To truly enjoy this hobby, I need to learn electronics. Any book recs?
OP, do you harbor aspirations of designing and/or modifying audio gear? If not, perhaps a solid understanding of acoustics and psychoacoustics would be more beneficial than tackling the electrical engineering, at least from an audio hobbyist or co...
Go get out your pitchforks, I’ve done a sacrilegious thing. . .
IMO, @audnacious hit the nail squarely on the head, and very succinctly, too: "A man must have his tools to correct that which needs adjustment." The more tools you have at your disposal, the better job you can do, regardless of  the task.
What is a good turntable preamp under $500?
Darlington Labs MM-6 is all discrete and has zero negative feedback.
Can someone explain to me why : Accupahse Equipment is that expensive ?
I am always amused by the prices for Accuphase equipment these days. I sold Accuphase alongside the other Japanese "halo" brands after Kensonic began importing the brand into the US to compete with the likes of Luxman, Technics, and Denon. Back th...
In the US, how is your internet connection terminated in the home?
In my corner of the world, Cox Communications uses optical cable only for backbone connections. Inside the house, the signal is RG-6U to my cable modem. I'm running CAT7 from the modem's 2.5 Gbps port to the 2.5 Gbps WAN port on my router. From th...
Which pair of speakers changed your Hifi life?
@tsacremento Tell me more of your story, please. KEF 104.2 caught my attention long time ago due to its weird design(to my taste), but such great reviews made me curious about them.  @monacousticusa,  By the time KEF released the 104/2, I had ...
