How Much to Spend on Turntable, Cart., Phono Pre I went used at THE MUSIC ROOM. Got a Rega Planar 8 w/apheta3 cartridge and Rega Aria phono pre amp for less than $4500. List would have been close to $7000
Will AI. Minimize the Design differences of audio Artificial means not real. Whose to say where AI draws its information is accurate.. if you depend on Ai you lost the game
Best Holographic Speakers ~$7k per pair Unless you’re doing a demo of different speakers in the same system you are hearing the system not just the speakers. Might sound totally different with your equipment, particularly speaker cables. just a thought
Vinyl Care I ended up buying a Hunninguru ultrasonic cleaner (400-500). If cleanes and drys a record in 5-7 minutes depending on how dirty it is. I can take a record cleaned by hand and play it and it still has noise. Run it through the ultrasonic and it ...
Throwing 2 High End brands together will not automatically equal success. Thoughts? The best advice I received from a sales person representing many brands both new and used was to decide what component was I going to build my system around. I was putting together a system for vinyl. His question was do you want to build it aroun...
Help me choose a phono pre I ordered a Gold Note to stay below $1000 at the recommendations of Ryan at TMR. But it was stuck in Italy so I bought a used Rega Aria MK 3 for the same price and couldn’t be happier. Great match to Planar 8 and Apheta 3 cartridge.
Picking speakers 3000-5000 budget We like the same kind of music. I just bought a complete vinyl system with Rogue integrated tube amp, planar 8 turntable, Rega aria phono preamp, and Totem Twin Bison floor standing speakers. The Totem speakers take 100-200 hours to breaking bu...
Anyone else constantly curious about amps? I too am one that what ever I get into I’m all in. But I’ve learned it’s as much about the chase as it is the capture. I’ve also learned I can not trust my own logic as to what I need to make the next step. I have to seek expert unbiased advice...
And the biggest influence on sound quality is... I liked what Eurorack said about the room. if I have the perfect room and my source cannot extract all the information from the perfect recording, does the room matter? I put my money into the best source component I can afford. It all boils d...
Speakers sound too bright. Any new speaker will require 100-200 hours of break in. If you replace them have you thought of used speakers or store demos that have some hours on them. It’s painful for me breaking in new stuff which includes cables because I’m so impatient.
Comparing speakers at home questions I would echo a previous response about adequate break in of the new speakers. I am assuming they’re brand new and have the time. The sound can change significantly after a 100 hours on them. Just my thoughts which are probably meaningless
Fine tuning the system. Where do you start and how do you proceed ? For me it’s all about listening to the music and not being too analytical, and I’m an engineer. But tweaking is a fun part of our hobby. I love the sound of tubes but I don’t trust myself or hype to pick them for my setup. I have always gone to B...
